Ever wonder what it really takes to be Town Supervisor of one of the largest Towns in our region? The answer: every day is different, and every day is about bettering the community.

One minute it's inspecting construction projects, the next it's meeting with residents, securing grants, working on a $21 million budget, planning community events, discussing public safety, supporting local businesses, or finding new ways to make Wappinger an even better place to call home.

No two days are ever the same—but every day has one goal: serving our community. We tried to capture it all, but the work of a Town Supervisor doesn't stop when the camera does.

October Senior Birthday Celebration! 🎂

Happy Birthday to our wonderful October Seniors John, Renata, Cathy, Pat, Ping, Debbie, Paul, Ray, Tony, Mona, Monica, and Mary Ann! We are so proud to host a special birthday celebration each month in honor of the amazing seniors here at the Wappinger Town Senior Center.

The afternoon was filled with great food, fun games, laughter, and wonderful company as we celebrated all of our October birthdays! 💕🎈

A heartfelt thank you to our friends at Pines at Poughkeepsie Center for helping make this day so memorable. Your generosity and support brought smiles, laughter, and joy to everyone who attended.

🎃Join us Saturday 10/31 for our annual Trunk or Treat event!🍂

🍁Golden Pumpkins will be awarded to kids ages 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-13 for cutest, funniest, scariest, and most original costumes. Also, we will have an award for best family, so make sure everyone joins in on the fun!

🚗As always, we can't have a trunk or Treat without trunks! We are looking for volunteers to come and decorate their trunks and hand out candy to our little trunk or treaters.

🏆We let the adults vote for best Trunk, so you could win the golden pumpkin for best Trunk (that one happens to come with a $50 gift card attached).

🍂We do ask that if you are bringing a trunk, please register below.

This event has been getting bigger and bigger every year. Help us grow even more!
There is no charge to participate in this event, but you do have to “ check out” at the end of your sign up process to finalize your registration.

What a transformation! 🌿

Take a look at this incredible before-and-after at the Old Hopewell Road and Route 9 intersection. What was once an overgrown, unattractive blacktop and concrete median has been completely transformed into a beautiful new gateway to our community.

Through the Adopt-A-Spot program, which was launched by Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini in his first year in office, this location has now been adopted by Neave Group, who stepped up to help us reimagine the space. The old pavement has been replaced with river rock, new plantings have been added, and an overlooked piece of our community has become something we can be proud of.

This is exactly what the Adopt-A-Spot program was created to do—bring together local businesses, organizations, and residents with the Town to take pride in the places we all share.

Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini said, “From the beginning, the goal of our Adopt-A-Spot program has been to take overlooked spaces throughout Wappinger and turn them into places our community can be proud of. This transformation at Old Hopewell Road and Route 9 is a perfect example of what can happen when the Town and our local businesses work together. I am incredibly grateful to Neave Group for stepping up, investing in our community, and helping us create a beautiful gateway into Wappinger. This partnership shows that when we all take ownership and pride in our community, even a small space can make a tremendous difference.”

Step Back in Time in Wappinger!
Join us on Sunday, October 11, from 1:00–3:00 PM at New Hackensack Cemetery for a special afternoon exploring Wappinger’s Revolutionary roots!

Meet local patriot Zephaniah Platt, who served in Colonel Brinckerhoff’s Dutchess County Militia, 2nd Regiment, and learn about his life and the stories of other patriots buried at the cemetery.

This family-friendly event will feature:

COMMUNITY DAY FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS 💜

The Melanie Chianese Foundation, in collaboration with Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini, County Legislator Robert Faust, and the Town of Wappinger, invites the community to come together for a special Community Day for Domestic Violence Awareness.

Join us as we raise awareness about domestic violence and Melanie’s Law, while supporting local organizations and businesses.

Join us as we celebrate the Town of Wappinger’s history!

This Saturday, October 10th, the Wappingers Historical Society will unveil two new historic site markers commemorating important chapters in our community’s colonial and Revolutionary War-era history: the Shipyard Site and the Colonial Mill Site.

🗓 Saturday, October 10th , 2026
⏰ 11:00 AM

The Shipyard Site marker commemorates the historic shipbuilding and maritime activity along lower Wappinger Creek near the Hudson River, while the Colonial Mill marker recognizes the former Van Benschoten Mill, a colonial-era grist mill that supplied barrels of flour to General George Washington’s Continental Army during the American Revolution.

The two markers will be unveiled together during a special dedication ceremony hosted by the Wappingers Historical Society.

Please join us as we preserve and celebrate these important pieces of Wappinger’s history!
