Who knew that our REMEMBERING THE BLACK ARTS MOVEMENT symposium would feel like a family reunion and be a literal library tour as we visited four different libraries within 21 days, and presented 5 panels with 12 artists and scholars based in Washington DC or Prince George’s County, Md? We had a fantastic time of learning, sharing and fellowship at each panel hosted and curated by our executive director, @khadijahonline.
Thank you to everyone who attended each presentation this month and special thanks to our presenters: Kenneth Carroll, Thomas Porter, Soyica Diggs Colbert, Nina Angela Mercer, Derrick Weston Brown, Brenda Bunting, Toya Marie, Sistah Joy, Sherri Mehta, Ka’Ba Soulsinger and Oba Harris. Continued appreciation to Sara McDonough and the @pgcmls for their continued partnership with Hurston/Wright and shout-out to promotional partner @pgahc’s Office of the Poet Laureate. Please subscribe to our newsletter at HurstonWright.org for upcoming events. #blackartsmovement #blackarts #hurstonwrightfoundation #hurstonwright

We have to thank our loving friend and amazingly talented writer @toya_jackofnone for bringing the space to life through words. We gave her a few ideas and details about the space and then this...

"The first bedroom boasts a king sized and double bed, while maintaining an abundance of space. The warmth of the room is accented by its vibrant color scheme. Let the sunshine wash over you through the oversized and plentiful windows with the sea just beyond. Or better yet, commune with the sea up close and personal from the attached balcony that overlooks it!"

Does this description compel you to visit?

Thank you again Toya for playing an invaluable role in our destiny. 💖
