Wow this makes for some sober reading. Did you know these facts?! I didn’t that’s for sure. Please please don’t stop. I’m day 10 of ‘Sober October’ which is the longest I’ve gone for a few years without a cheeky glass of wine I reckon!! Thank you so far to everyone who has donated so kindly and for all the lovely personal messages I’m receiving. I know @stwilfridshospice and the Maynards are very grateful for every penny of support. We’re nearly at £3k which is mind blowing!! X

Congrats to @davidlivi_ , who has been promoted to Head Chef at @tpt_restaurant 🥂 
It was such a pleasure photographing Dave as well as some of the restaurant’s seasonal dishes for Liz and Lee. They couldn’t have been more accommodating, even during live service, and my thanks also to the customers who kindly let me quietly weave in amongst you! 😍  The Parson’s Table is so much at the heart of Arundel life (having celebrated its 10th anniversary last year), so my approach has been to tell its story through the people, the ambience, the changing seasons and, naturally, the dishes that bring it all together.

A few more moments from The Bell shoot with @tpt_restaurant . . .

What struck me was the quiet focus of the kitchen: Head Chef Jonny peeling shallots (I think 😀); Sous Chef Dave rolling out the gnocchi . . . he’s been with the restaurant for almost 10 years. Restaurant supervisor, Monica, having a giggle Liz. Think I must have been telling one of my bad jokes! Monica has the accolade of being TPT’s longest-standing member of staff. Amazing! 💙

Although it felt a little dark in there, I turned off all the fluorescent lighting in the kitchen. With the strong sunlight pouring in, it created this wonderful dramatic glow across the space.

Here’s to another 10 years at TPT, with - perhaps - staff that can claim to have been with them for 20 years!

‘In hindsight it was absolutely bonkers’

- Liz Parsons on choosing to up sticks from a settled life in Canada and launch @tpt_restaurant with husband and chef, Lee, back in 2015. And how glad we are that they took the leap – and have just celebrated 10 years on Tarrant Street!

It was a pleasure to photograph the team preparing for service (swipe ⬅️ to see more), to feature in the latest edition of The Bell, penned by Hannah Clubb. She chatted to Liz about the restaurant’s high culinary standards, the challenges of Covid and how to navigate rising food costs.

My approach was to get stuck in (and somewhat in the way, I’m sure 😂) of the team prepping, the careful preparation of the tables, and of course the finished plates . . . such a magical place, and Liz and Lee really DO make it what it is.

The best restaurant experiences are, I think, when you are made to feel truly welcomed . . . that sense of belonging is what it’s all about 💙
