SOLACE CONSUMES ANNIVERSARY VISUAL

Artist: @tracesremain
Track: 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘴
Genre: Progressive metalcore, Djent
Style: Lyric Visual
Format: Portrait

Nocturnal Reflections

Millions of faceless ghosts walk among us, each carrying their own stories, dreams, scars, and identities. Yet beneath the surface, some are fighting wars no one else can see.

Depression has a way of making you feel like a stranger to yourself, slowly erasing the person you remember being until all that remains is an emptiness you can't quite put into words.

“Solace Consumes” captures that descent into despair, the weight of the past, and the struggle to recognize yourself beneath it all.

One year later, the darkness remains.

here it is: the solo you’ve been asking for! this one was quite difficult to track as you can imagine (so many f-bombs…). the sweeps are slow enough where you can’t get away with sloppy playing, but fast enough to require 100% focus. regardless, i think it came out well!

i’ve been practicing sweeps picking for 7 years now. if you’re looking to start your guitar sweeping journey, here are some quick practice tips:
- don’t
- it’s not worth it
- go outside touch grass

oh, also instrumentals are out for colorblind!

ANNOUNCEMENT: On July 10th, my ep Limerence will be out on all platforms under the name “Alex_Johnson” instead of the usual “Alex Johnson™”. My album is reuploaded under that name as well. Preorders on Spotify are live now!

Written, produced, and recorded by myself last year. Mixed and mastered by the amazing @preston_remains of @tracesremain

This is a themed ep taking inspiration from the expansive universe of Halo, alongside being an instrumental introspection of mental disorders, past regrets, and mistakes. I’m excited for you all to hear these tracks that have long waited to be released.

our debut album has already been out for an entire month!! thank you to all who streamed and purchased it!!

this solo was kind of a last-minute shoehorn into the album. it was originally supposed to be a guest feature, but that fell through. i think i started writing this one the second i got the message they couldn’t do it lol. three hours later, this was written on my @guitarpro_official

American progressive metalcore band Traces Remain's new album Colorblind (May 14, 2026) — progressive metalcore, Thall, Djent. This is their debut full-length album.
The album delivers an exceptional overall listening experience, bringing me right back to that transcendent progressive djent magic I associate with Kadinja. Melodies are intricately woven by lead guitar and keyboards, seamlessly locking into the band’s masterful groove. The instrumental arrangements feature rich, complex rhythmic shifts that are almost dizzying in their precision, while the song structures excel in their build-ups—eschewing relentless blasting in favor of gradual melodic escalation that culminates in powerful releases. The drummer stands out brilliantly, accenting every crucial downbeat with precision, while the double kick and snare deliver relentless kinetic energy. The unpredictable, forward-thinking arrangements and transitions are nothing short of astonishing. The album brilliantly resolves the unsettling tension of dissonant thall walls by intertwining them with soaring, silky guitar melodies, high-gain djent rhythms, and icy electronic textures, creating a deeply satisfying sonic balance. Furthermore, the mixing and production are top-notch, giving every instrument a tight, muscular presence. The explosive high- and low-frequency extreme vocals elevate the entire record to another level. If you enjoy Breakdown of Sanity, Vildhjarta, or Kadinja, this album is an absolute must-listen.

adhd-infused modern metal riff with LOTS of tapping (my favorite thing in the whole world). this is likely the hardest riff on the whole record.
