Fresh off the easel...
Looking NW-Gracing the Day 20x24in Oil on Canvas.
It's one of many paintings I've created looking out my northwest window which overlooks the Mission Valley and Ninepipe Reservoir. I never tire of this view!
It's heading to the new Persimmon Gallery in Columbia Falls this week.

We are so lucky to still have the honor of being able to house Louise Lamontagne’s work in our new, beautiful, and tiny space in Columbia Falls.
.
Louise’s paintings invoke a feeling and love of wide open beautiful spaces which are so near and dear to so many Montanans.
.
And as always, we welcome anyone to come in and gaze at the art. No buying required to appreciate art. ❤️
.

First and foremost, a huge “THANK YOU!” To those that turned out for our grand opening in Columbia Falls this past Saturday. 🎉
.
We are so absolutely thrilled to have a new home and even more thrilled it’s in Columbia Falls.
.
We want to provide a beautiful and affordable space to shop in town so the trips that once required one to head to Kalispell or Whitefish to find a gift and card are now over. Between @obriensliquor, @coyotemodern, @larysfly, @rosepetalmt, @shopsatstation8, @genesis_kitchen_ , @Monaco_homedecor, Badrock Books, and Beargrass Pharmacy, anyone can find something for everyone in our little close knit town.
.
Our winter hours will be:

Edited: Tuesday-Saturday 11:00-5:00.
.
And we will be open tomorrow, Valentine’s Day for that last minute shopper! We’ve got a great selection of cards, too! ❤️ Hope you see you soon!

Oh. yeah. I’ve failed to mention on this platform that a gallery I co-owned with three absolutely remarkable women in Bigfork has moved to Columbia Falls and we’re opening today. Two of my partners have retired, but two of us are carrying on in a new spot in a new town.
.
We’re still full of artists, (who by and large hail from Montana) but we’ve morphed ourselves more into a gift shop supporting Montana artists and small businesses.
.
We’re north of Bad Rock Books where Brave Dog Knits used to be. It’s an intimate, bright, and gorgeous new space. It’s been a dream of mine to open a brick and mortar in Columbia Falls and I couldn’t be happier we’re finally able to be here. It’s serendipitous that we’re in the location we’re in, so it is absolutely meant to be.
.
A HUGE shout out to my partner @tracistavesdesign and her husband and brother in law for all the custom woodwork in the gallery and the hours put in making the space our beautiful new home. ❤️
.
We’ll be open from 11:00-5:00 with chocolates from Copper Leaf and Prosecco. We really hope to see you!

The lease has been signed!
.
A new Persimmon is coming to Columbia Falls! It will be a bit more intimate, but we’ll still house some of the artists you loved from the old Persimmon and will be introducing some newer artists that I’m incredibly excited are joining us.
.
We’ll keep you updated, but we expect great things for our new home in Columbia Falls!

Circa 2013: We’re 13 artists this year all packed into the Bohemian Hall just out of town, setting up for our 3rd year into the annual ‘Handmade Holiday’. Sally Askevold is still alive and well, making pottery, and is set up downstairs with an angelfish porcelain vase I still kick myself for not buying. Two of the four Persimmon gallery owners are participating, and later on…three. We’ve grown to offer shopping upstairs this year for the first time. We’re still thinking of ways to grow. And get the word out. We’re scheming of ways to include every creative heart we know. @heidihaugenpottery is loading up hot pots in her car, on the verge of spontaneous combustion (always), and Leif is there for all the lights and moral support (also always). I hadn’t yet rear-ended my friend @tbirdleather’s truck in the icy parking lot during an extra stressful year (sorry Tress!), @thegoodstuffbotanicals hadn’t yet been discovered by fancy glossy fashion magazines (what?!) and @aportashop was still a dream bubbling away in Utah (hell yea gurl). We’d grow. We’d stress. We’d laugh. A lot. Some faces would fade, some we would grieve, some would return a few years, and the rest of us would see this dream through every December since.

This year would be our 11th year this December in that farmhouse behind Coffee Traders. We miss you. We will be back next year. But for now, find your makers and buy their products. Find your artists and feed their sometimes-teeny fires. You never know the impact that one sale or that one memory or that one kind word can have. Stoke those flames, and I guarantee you will find the heart of the holidays, like an old farmhouse covered in snow that’s absolutely busting at the seams with love, joy, cheer, success, laughter, and friendship. What more could anyone possibly need, besides maybe a @fleurbakeshop Cannele? #handmadeholiday #buyhandmade #stokethefire #makersgonnamake #artistsupport #shoplocal #shopsmall
