When Tracy Chadwell invites you to a dinner on disrupting ageism you say yes—even when it means getting off your sofa on a Monday night! Fabulous to attend a dinner co-hosted by Tracy, Michael Clinton of @roarforwardcom and Peter Kaldes of the Next50 Foundation. Loved reconnecting with ACA guest Susan Colby of @girlsgone50 and Grace Creative and getting to hang with upcoming guest @mallyroncal. Tracy was an early ACA guest and she is a longtime investor in longevity tech and companies that promote healthy aging. Fabulous to see her lead a fireside chat with Mika Brzezinski exploring why “age is an asset.” Fun fact— This was my first time meeting Mika in person, although I collaborated with her sister-in-law Ginny as a featured LinkedIn expert in their 2020 book “Comeback Careers.” Mika is as glamorous and warm and engaging in person as you would image from waking up with her on Morning Joe. Tracy— thank you for such an inspiring evening! And for connecting me to so many fabulous attendees who will be showing up on @acertainagepod in 2025! Let’s keep disrupting ageism and #agingoutloud!

Earlier this week we hosted our first Venture:F FOUNDRY dinner to forge friendships, opportunity, and dealflow among women at the epicenter of finance and investing. Thank you to @deniseyi and @nacitron of @citiprivatebank, @tracy_chadwell @1843capital, and @jessecdraper @halogenvc for making the evening possible, for sharing your expertise, and working collaboratively to bring this group of women together. Why are we hosting these? To help women invest in women. Did you know? ➡️Women make 85% of consumer spending decisions and 90% of healthcare decisions. ➡️Women are not only inheriting more wealth (‘great wealth transfer’ ~$100T), but also creating and stewarding more wealth than ever before and will control 66% of the wealth in the US in the next decade. ➡️Women currently control $14.2 Trillion in assets and a third of the world’s wealth, and that is set to exceed parity by the end of 2030, controlling much of the $30T (what Citi calls (30 by 30)! ➡️Women need to plan for longer lives as they are outliving men. 10,000 people turn 65 every day and hold over 70% of the wealth in this country. (100,000 people in the US currently over 100) ➡️Women invest differently than men, do more research before investing, often invest with a sustainability lens, and make investments that are having a positive impact on society. Yet… ➡️Women venture fund managers raised only 3% ($3.21B) of the total $107B raised by venture funds worldwide. Why? Because we need more women deploying capital to fund managers. I was delighted to run into Wendy Euler (@goodbyecroptop) at @Aritzia after her conference on aging with venture capitalist @tracy_chadwell (@1843capital) at @c2montreal. She liked my leather jacket. Then I came home to a new pair of high-waisted linen pants – and need a crop top to pair them with. (😉Kidding, but fashion is a cruel mistress.) The pair, 55 and 57, were inspiring. Heck, even the fact that @c2Montreal was including the topic was momentous. Some bon mots from the two, in a conversation moderated by François Grisé, 52. “It’s never too late to make change in your life.’’ – Euler “There's so much psychological manipulation going on in the media, and you got to quit looking at it, you've got to quit reading it. And you've got to cultivate a world that makes you feel good. The patriarchy infuriates me.” – Euler  “I think aging is actually one of those really unifying things because there isn't a single one of us in the world that isn't aging. WOMEN MEAN BUSINESS If you had told me when I was 20, even 30, that I would’ve started three businesses by the time I hit 53, I’m not sure I would’ve believed you. My dad is a lawyer, my mom a librarian. I wasn’t raised in a family of entrepreneurs. I co-founded my first company with a college girlfriend and our husbands. We created and sold an instructional DVD on breast-feeding. This was back in the “mompreneur” days of the early aughts when my kids were still in diapers. DVDs! Remember those relics?!? After hustling DVDs got old, we wound up licensing the IP to a Canadian nursing apparel company and called it a day. Since then, I’ve launched a career consulting company which has worked with 2K+ professionals, and now my podcast is turning into a small business of its own. I’ve had the enormous pleasure of interviewing dozens and dozens of women on the show that are building their own companies and brands. Many of these women are creating products to serve the midlife market. Others have products and services that reach all ages and genders. Others may not even identify as traditional entrepreneurs. My very first guest was OB/GYN Dr. Anita Sadaty. The core of Anita’s business is serving women’s reproductive and gynecological health. But she’s also a small business owner. She runs her own medical practice group. Women of all stripes are launching businesses and I am always fascinated to hear how someone takes the kernel of an idea and turns it into a full-fledged business. Did you know that women launched nearly half of all business started in 2020? This is up from 28% in 2019. And I am here for it!
