7 Hr round trip to attend the 2025 Kentucky Bourbon Festival Distiller's Dinner w/ Angel's Envy. Worth it? Absolutely!

Had the honor of meeting Angel's Envy Master Distiller Owen Martin & come face to face with the folks behind the Festival that make it the great success that it is each & every year. Food & hospitality were top notch. Thank you to the KBF & Estes team members for putting this wonderful event together & to Savor at River House for hosting. Cannot wait for KBF 2025... 🥃

I’m not sure, but this might be my first article ever about the Mint Julep in nearly 20 years of writing about cocktails. I’ve written about the Mint Julep in some of my books, but never as a standalone article. But if I lived in Louisville, the place I would go to to get my daily Julep would be @thesilverdollar, which uses a professional cheese grater to get its ice to the proper fluffy consistency. Here’s my latest bar tab column for the Wall Street Journal. (By the way, you can say “mint julep” into your phone as many times as you like and it will not understand what you’re talking about. Instead, it will presume you are talking about tulips or maybe somebody named Julie.)

HUGE NEWS! The folks over at @newriff & @graeters are collabing to bring you “Graeter’s Bourbon Ball Ice Cream!!” I am lucky enoughto get to be able to try it later this afternoon, so stay tuned for tasting notes 😉

Graeter’s Bourbon Ball Ice Cream is a rich, bourbon-infused ice cream with whiskey-glazed pecans and dark chocolate chips. Each bite captures the signature flavors from a hand-selected single barrel of New Riff’s bourbon. Bourbon Ball will replace Graeter’s Brown Butter Bourbon Pecan.

It is available to order for nationwide shipping at Graeters website but it will be available at New Riff’s Gift Shop beginning Saturday, April 12 for purchase (along with free sample from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.) and all Graeter’s scoop shops starting Monday, April 14. Cincinnati area locals can also look at Meijer, Jungle Jim’s and Dorothy Lane Market stores by the end of April.
