We’re ridiculously excited to have Tracy Jade joining us at the NineDots Gathering.

Coming from a journalism background, Tracy brings a deeply observational approach to wedding photography - stepping back, watching things unfold, and photographing the day for what it actually is, rather than constantly directing it.

Her belief is simple: real weddings, real people and real moments are often far more interesting than anything we could manufacture.

And that’s exactly what she’ll be digging into during her talk.

Tracy will be exploring the ethos and practice of observational wedding photography, what authenticity really means, why certain couples connect so strongly with this way of working, and hopefully giving a few photographers in the room a massive permission slip to trust their instincts and shoot in a way that feels more like them.

I’m especially grateful for the two dads in photos 1 and 7, my own dad who is the hardest working man - who would move the world for his family. And my best friend, my son’s father, and the man who always makes us laugh, holds us when we cry, and is always open to life’s adventures.

Wedding timelines definitely have the ability to unravel quickly if left to their own devices.

It’s rarely because of one big issue though, it’s usually a series of small delays that create a ripple effect throughout the day.

✨ Portraits run 15 minutes longer than expected.
✨ The shuttle is late and the ceremony doesn’t start on time.
✨ Guests take extra time finding their seats.
✨ Family photos need a few more combinations.
✨ Toasts become heartfelt (and longer than planned).

Suddenly cocktail hour is delayed, dinner service shifts, and the evening timeline starts feeling rushed.

The truth is, wedding days are living, breathing events. People are wonderfully unpredictable, and no timeline unfolds exactly as written.

That’s why building realistic timelines (with room for adjustments) is one of the most important things a planner does.

A great planner isn’t there to keep the day rigidly on schedule. They’re there to anticipate challenges, communicate with vendors, make real-time adjustments, and keep everything flowing seamlessly behind the scenes.

The goal? That you never even notice.

While you’re soaking in every moment, your planner is coordinating, pivoting, and protecting the experience you’ve spent months creating.
