Had the chance to work with these incredible young artists in Montana making a commercial for @atpwhitefish.

Thank you @tracymcdowell1 for inspiring and creating a community where so many young artists get to discover the joy of theatre.

I even made a little cameo! 😉

3 weeks in Montana and my heart is happy

I haven’t gotten to spend this much time with my family in so long, and it truly was such a blessing and a joy. Getting to see Violet thriving at camp/my work - she's such a star, and then get to take in the fresh air with Adam every day… it was the reset I think we all needed.

So grateful for the time there and for the new and old friends I got to share it with. Best ice cream in the world, horseback rides, huckleberry everything, a social media break, and finally learning how to slow down ..

see you next time, montana 🐴🍦

The music, the ambience, the people, the talent …. We are truly blessed to have this much talent in one space in Whitefish, Montana. I can’t even capture the range and brilliance behind their voices - to experience it in person was unbelievable.

Thank you to @atpwhitefish , local support and donors for making this a dream come true for many of us who want to experience theater in Montana.

Thank you @tracymcdowell1 for the very warm invite and to @beckyrygg for creating the perfect ambiance for the evening.

Love to chat more about what IWD406 can do to help support this mission!!

Cheers,

Julie

🎭✨ An evening celebrating the arts in Whitefish, Montana.

Last night I had the opportunity to attend the ATP “Thank You” event and was reminded just how fortunate we are to have a thriving arts community right here in the Flathead Valley. Follow @atpwhitefish

From meeting incredibly talented Broadway performers who are in Whitefish preparing for upcoming productions, to connecting with local singers, songwriters, artists, donors, and supporters, the evening was a beautiful reflection of what happens when a community invests in creativity.

Some of my favorite moments included:

🎶 Broadway performers sharing their talent with donors and supporters

🍽️ Delicious food catered by Beldi Mediterranean - @beldiwhitefish

✨ A stunning event space thoughtfully designed and decorated by ATP Operations Manager, Becky Rygg @beckyrygg

🤝 Meaningful conversations with people who are helping keep the arts alive and thriving in Montana

Be sure to mark your calendars for:

🎭 The Great American Showcase – July 1 & 2
🎭 Unstoppable! – July 8 & 9

The talent arriving in Whitefish is extraordinary, and these performances are an incredible opportunity to experience Broadway-caliber entertainment right here in our own backyard.

A special shout-out to two women making a significant impact through the Alpine Theatre Project:

✨ Becky Rygg, Operations Manager
✨ Tracy McDowell, ATP Co-Director
✨Cynthia Benkelman, ATP Co- Director

Both have shared their stories on the IWD406 Podcast @theiwd406podcast , and their dedication to building opportunities, fostering creativity, and enriching our community is inspiring.

The arts do more than entertain—they bring people together, create connection, inspire future generations, and strengthen the heart of our communities.

It feels like yesterday that I was begging bands to shoot them for my portfolio on a camera twice as bulky as my current model, directing the new-hire sound tech where to turn a few spotlights as he teetered on a ladder above the stage. In reality it was a lifetime ago; a version of Whitefish remembered now only in bar stool stories. How many bands have we witnessed rise to greatness, disband and reunite by whispered invitation? How many generations unite under the graveyard? How many kisses have been stolen, toes been stepped on and cards left behind?
Leave your worries on the sidewalk, grab a mason jar and step into the tent. Wear your best mini dress or a stained chefs shirt. At the northern you can be anyone you want to be as long as you’re authentic. I for one look forward to the day that the Picture Montana sign hangs on the Northern Walls. By then I’ll be sporting smile lines and crows feet, making more time for leisure and still having one too many on Friday night.

30 years of RENT tomorrow—and it still hits just as hard. A story of love, loss, community, and choosing to measure life in moments that matter. Grateful for the art that reminds us to live boldly and love fiercely.
