I’ve been living and slow travelling in Europe for almost a year, and have picked up lots of ways to keep my costs and footprint low!

Do you dream of slow travelling in Europe too? Ask me your questions👇🏽

Big thank you @europeansleeper for inviting me on the Good Night Train, and letting me reflect on all the things that’ve enabled my slow adventures 💚

PS: The Good Night Train also connects Paris, Cologne and Milan 🚃

What a great way to save money + slow travel + experience one of Europe’s most unique train journeys - The Good Night Train aka @europeansleeper 🚝

We finally had a chance to travel overnight by train from Germany to the Netherlands (on the longer Prague to Brussels route):

👉🏼 My partner and I had a private cabin all to ourselves, with full flat beds made-up for us, a detachable table, and even a ladder to climb to the upper births!

👉🏼 I usually read before sleeping, and I could do that even on the train with a cozy little lamp (such a nice touch), as we traversed the countryside of Germany.

👉🏼 It felt like a dream to fall asleep in Berlin and wake up to see the sunrise somewhere above the fields and meadows in the Netherlands!

👉🏼 The train was delayed by about an hour, so I got time to do some morning journaling!

👉🏼 The train also connects Berlin all the way to Paris!

Would you try this overnight train while travelling across Europe?

this “10 countries in 10 days” mindset for travelling in Europe is honestly killing the joy of experiencing this big, diverse, beautiful continent.

We’ve been living in Europe for the last 7 years & can confidently say- please don’t fall for these kind of trips. Europe is HUGGGGE & it’s not a single cultural experience. It’s as diverse as Asia.
Living in Germany feels completely different from living in Romania, Spain, or Italy. And the countries you choose to explore should be completely YOUR PERSONAL choice, & no tour operator’s or agency’s.

If you want to travel mindfully and actually make the most of your Euro trip, here are 3 simple tips (Part 1):

📍Choose 1 or max 2 countries at a time

we understand getting Schengen visa can be quite challenging, and so you may be tempted to cover as much and as many countries as possible. But hear us out here, 10 countries stamps on your passport mean absolutely nothing compared to slow, conscious 10 days in just 1 or 2 destinations. Get to know them well, immerse yourself in local activities, culture, history, get to know people and return with a bag full of memories for a lifetime than simply touching the city centres, entering 1000 cathedrals and museums and coming back home with nothing but STAMPS & BILLS.

🥗 Try local food

Gone are the days when veg options were hard to find. Europe has evolved so much. Veggie and vegan food is available almost everywhere now. We’ve been vegan for 10 years and have enjoyed amazing versions of French dishes, German classics, and Mediterranean cuisine. It’s all possible.

🚂 Take at least a few train journeys

Train travel here is something special. The views are beautiful, yes, but more than that, it gives you a chance to connect with people. In Greece, we once met a 75-year-old man on a regional train and ended up talking about religion, food, gardening, family, and so many things that helped us see the country through his eyes!

We had a great adventure with @ouat.train previously on #ouatwinterline
Further hint: @trainxeurope has just passed through one of the locations en route, in his Whiskey adventures.
