🌿 Not your average trail.

Last week, The Bentway officially joined the Trans Canada Trail, connecting our vibrant public space beneath the Gardiner to the longest multi-use trail network in the world.

More than a route from A to B, the Bentway West Loop is a place to move, experience art, connect with neighbours, and discover what public space can be.

This milestone is an exciting step toward a more connected Toronto, linking our neighbourhoods, downtown, and waterfront to a trail network that stretches across Canada.

🔗 Come explore the Bentway West Loop and discover where this new connection can take you. Link in bio!

This week the GDTA attended the World Trails Conference in Perth, Australia*, alongside our friends at the Bruce Trail and the Trans Canada Trail. Aside from building connections with trails across Canada and around the world, we have worked together to discuss building trail communities, responsible recreation, and unlocking funding.

*The World trails Conference was attended by a GDTA Board member living in Australia, with expenses donated by that member.

Do you want to know how Yukon glorifies its fall colors? Well, here it is. This peak just looked like a massive colorful wall when I hit the summit. The landscape you get to see in Kluane national park, Yukon is just unreal. I was fortunate enough to witness this.

Model - Fujifilm X-H2
Lens - Fujinon XF16-55mm F2.8
Filters - Freewell magnetic CPL

Volunteer appreciation lunch courtesy of a @transcanadatrail grant. It was such a treat to sit down together at the @cityfortsask Fort Heritage Program Space and enjoy a delicious meal catered by @fresonbros. We hope this can be an annual event. Thank you @transcanadatrail.

Bye Fernie and on we go👣 Yesterday I had a really nice rest day in Fernie. I was able to rest my right foot, which has unfortunately developed a painful spot in my new shoes over the past few days (thank you @sunnyfernie for your great help), sent off my fully written diary, bought food for the coming days, visited the museum and am very grateful to have met Nic, Sylvia and Ellie (🐶). They were not only my wonderful hosts, but also really interesting people to talk and listen to ☺️With fresh energy and some special trail snack, I continued along various forest roads and trails, while the wind blew warm waves of air out of the forest towards me.

Our Junior Naturalists were out in full force to give back to nature today. We partnered with @citymississauga to help with their One Million Trees project. We spent our morning planting prairie plants at Jack Darling Park. Well done team!

At Flinty’s Boardwalk, it’s more than simply a loop. You’ll wind along the trail, cross boardwalks, climb staircases that get your heart pumping, and stop to take in beautiful views of the lake and city.

This 5 km loop is diverse, interesting, and fun, with several access points along the way. Complete the whole loop or explore it in sections, the choice is yours!

👀🤫And I won’t tell you about the submarine… you’ll have to check it out yourself!
