$Today feels heavy. I know I’m not alone in that. I’m at work, still doing what I can to fight fascism and to make sure all of us get to show up as our full selves and have the rights we deserve. In the middle of the day, my husband @mynameisjro called me from work, and we talked about our beautiful sister, @ceciliagentili72. That moment stopped me in my tracks. Cecilia would not want us crying over her. She would want us remembering her love. The love she poured into this world. The love she wrapped our community in. I’m angry that I don’t get to hear her humor anymore because her humor was everything. Sharp, brilliant, unforgettable. But today, more than anything, I feel her reminding me that we must love on each other. We are all that we have. Love on each other today. Hold each other close, because none of us know when our day will come. All of our days will come. Our sister’s time was cut short, but she left us with memories, joy, laughter, love, and tools. And right now, we have to be the glue. The glue that keeps this community together. Racial lines cannot divide us. Gender lines cannot divide us. Class lines cannot divide us. Immigration status cannot divide us. Love will always win. Love is the pathway. As I sit here in tears, this pain reminds me that I am human. That I loved her deeply. That I still feel her. And to my friends, my family, and especially my brother-in-law Peter, hold your head up. Hold on to that love. Let the memories guide you. Let them carry you forward. I pray that one day we can leave even a fraction of the legacy she left behind. I know I am a better woman, a better sister, a better advocate, and a better confidant because she loved me and taught me how to love. Protect your hearts today. Love always, LaLa 💖$
