I was in NYC and I got to catch up with my guy Cristian @cmvmts from @transformfitnessnyc and boy did I learn a lot in an hour. There's so much more to being a calisthenics athlete. I learned about the importance of stretching, breathing, taking breaks, form, and so much more. If you need help on your calisthenics journey...give him a shout!!! Thank you my friend!!! ⚡️Rebuilding strength⚡️

It is always surprising to me what I now have to do to maintain and flexibility. I have to do so much more focused strength and flexibility than I did in the past to keep my body moving efficiently.
It never feels like your body is changing but inside I can feel that things are different. The changes are real so the grind has to grind harder 👊

⚡️Current training progression s⚡️

These are the current strength/skills I am currently working on. What makes something a strength movement or a skill. For me it is different levels of coordination. Once your most difficult movement starts feeling easier you can start use it as strength tool towards building greater skill.

Either way I don’t think anything I could have done strength or skill could have prepared me for the challenges you have to adapt to towards aging.

To be candid some things feel better because I have been consistent. But more than a few things are harder because I have to train harder to feel like my « younger self »

Along the way what keeps me progressing are amazing super talented friends coaches that keep me in line and a community of peers/clients that keeps me motivated.

Let’s get after it! 👊

Did a straddle press from the floor to *kinda* straight… but still a first!

Had a few minutes to play on the straps with @getfitwithcoachg today! Still getting used to all the spinning 😵‍💫 but it’s so much fun

I’m so excited learn straps! First pose Georgii is teaching me is meat hook. I have a ways to go - it is so much harder than it looks. A lot of obliques 😮‍💨 But believe it or not, the straps feel great - they’re like traction for my wrists!

⚡️Injury and Resiliency ⚡️

So glad to have mace swings back as a part of my training arsenal! After dealing with a janky right elbow that I have since was a result of overuse stress and de-conditioning it feels good to regain access to this strength range

Through this process have come to see that my elbow joint prep has not been sufficient and overall my triceps are weak relative to my bodyweight.

It sucks being injured but it is always an opportunity to learn more about what your body uniquely needs 👊
