I Want You To Know…. These finger puppets will be available for play TOMORROW, Saturday May 30th from 11-4PM (outside of the Holy Name of Jesus Christ 😈 near the Nighthawk). As part of Lean In: A Small Quilt Show, we are dedicating a day to support your next project, big or small! Join us this Sunday, March 22nd, from 10 am to 1 pm @oldstonehousebklyn. Drop into a craft demo! Learn the basics of appliqué. Kids ages 7 and up can create felt & fabric quilt-block collages. Find some new-to-you fabric on our free scrap table. Bring along craft materials you no longer need to be donated to @brooklyncreativereuse, a creative reuse center opening soon! BCR will accept all fiber-arts-related donations, as well as general arts-and-crafts-related supplies. We hope you’ll join us and other contributing Lean In artists on Sunday to learn, share materials, and connect with other makers!  This event is open to the public and FREE, so please bring friends and family. Light refreshments will be provided. Ages: 7-adult. ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: The contemporary art gallery is on display in our Great Room, which is up 18 steps with a railing on one side. Thank you to all who came to Lean In’s opening reception! Thank you to @ellaa_lang and @leacawthorne for curating and producing such a wonderful group show, and to @oldstonehousebklyn for hosting. These are just a few of the 34 stunning small works on display through April 26. Thank you for reaching out to (gently) touch my piece, which I gave permission for (see last slide), and thank you to the people who didn’t yet know about the permission and who gasped at the perceived transgression when other people did it. It’s an honor to both create and diffuse tension in an art space 😇 (I wore @janellerabbott JRAT of course.)

My quilt “Care” 26 is hanging in a show, “Lean In” curated by the amazing @ellaa_lang and @leacawthorne at @oldstonehousebklyn through April 26!! “Care” is made from care labels snipped from my family’s clothes, quilted onto upcycled fabrics. As I was finishing it, in January 2026, I couldn’t help but think about what we care for, who we care for. And just as care labels become something we don’t even look at, are we noticing everything happening in our communities? Maybe, in 2026, care is a whistle in your pocket, and tuning in enough to know when to blow it.

On March 14, Lean In: A Small Quilt Show will be opening at The Old Stone House in Park Slope! It’s a collection of quilts curated by El (@ellaa_lang ) and Lea (@leacawthorne ) via the @brooklyn_quilters_guild !!! What talented and wonderful people! There will be an opening reception on Saturday the 14th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Old Stone House and then a series of public events including a Community Day on March 22nd and a Make Your Own Mini Quilt Workshop on April 12th and 19th! Lean In, A Small Quilt Show opens this Saturday, March 14, 6:30-9pm @oldstonehousebklyn! Lean In includes 34 experimental quilts, 20” x 20” or smaller.
