Our XXIX in‑store mix comes from Lucas González and dives deep into house and techno.

Lucas has been an active figure in Sydney’s underground electronic scene for the last decade and is a founding member of Papania Collective. His DJ sets focus on the deeper ends of house and techno, shaped by a clear respect for the lineage and history of electronic music. Preferring late-night hours, he operates when the crowd has moved past conversation and into full immersion.

As a producer, he has released a couple of credible originals and remixes, though his work is ultimately defined by a constant battle against perfection, creating, refining, abandoning, and beginning again.

Lucas holds a special place for us. We were welcomed into the underground scene through Papania, a community that gave us a real sense of belonging. We’ve shared some of the most joyful, wild, and freeing moments together. We’re also grateful to have shared our selections at many of these events. Lucas is a promoter who genuinely cares about punters having a good time, with great music always at the heart of it all.

Our XXVIII in-store mix explores electro and breakbeat, brought to life by Kate Doherty.

With over two decades behind the decks, Kate Doherty is known for their dynamic, genre-blending sets that balance intensity with warmth. Their mixing style is fast and hands-on, rooted in techno but shaped by curiosity and emotion. Based on the Central Coast, Kate continues to build community through music, launching Odd Socks on 22 November, an unmissable new night dedicated to individuality, connection, and dancefloor therapy.

“I’ve got a lot of love and respect for the crew behind fanático. We’re seriously lucky to have such a thoughtful, well-curated record store in the heart of 2204!

I wanted to dig into my electro and breakbeat collection for this mix and try to lean into those push pull moments that keep things shifting.

My mixing style can be a bit chaotic haha - I’m quick to bring in tracks to keep things layered, and I tend to chop and cut a fair bit in the mix. I first learnt to mix playing techno, so that fast, hands-on style kinda stuck. Being on a rotary mixer is pretty much the opposite of that, so it was definitely a learning curve (and still figuring it out).

Thanks for having me fanático ❤️”

Our 27th in-store takes you on an Italo-disco trip, courtesy of Hysteric.

Known for his deep vinyl collection of ‘80s synth, disco, and oddball gems, Melbourne-born DJ and producer Hysteric channels those sounds into sharp edits and originals. He also runs Mothball Record, a vinyl label dedicated to overlooked dancefloor magic. Blending disco with synth-pop, electro and HiNRG, his releases have landed on labels like Public Possession, Ostra Discos, and Bordello A Parigi. Always digging, always sharing, Hysteric keeps the spirit of discovery alive.

“One thing that changed about my DJing in the last few years, is much less priority on obscure records (personal holy grails, €€€ Italo-disco records, etc) and instead looking at what records I can find cheap, that maybe aren’t too well known yet. I think that comes across pretty well in this mix, as 95% of these records I bought for little money and in person, either in Oz or on my travels over the years.”

Our XXVI in-store mix comes from Au4r33y.

Au4r33y (Audrey) is a Sydney-based DJ and the founder of Prowl, a collective bringing underground sounds to unexpected spaces across the inner west. Her sets move fluidly between old-school influences and fresh discoveries, blending acid, electro, and left-of-centre gems that resist easy categorisation. Audrey was also one of the first ones knocking on our doors back in the Surry Hills pop-up days, and she’s another example of how a new face can go from customer to family.

In this mix she carefully moves through dub, techno, glitchy trance, dubstep and electro, culminating in a distinct 2+ hour journey. Big love to Audrey!

Our XXV in-store mix comes from the legend Samma.

Samma’s sound moves through rolling basslines, dubby undertones, and hypnotic flow, creating a deep and timeless atmosphere. He’s also a beloved part of the fanático crew, the one who knows the record collection better than anyone. Simply put, we wouldn’t be the same without him. Big love to Samma for bringing his gift into our lives day after day.

“I had a mission in this mix: to tell the story of someone coming home from a long day out—perhaps from work and covered in filth—who runs a bath and drifts off into a daydream or memory. In my mind, and thanks to some fascinating old field recordings, the scene became Hong Kong, and every choice from there had to fit with the auditory sensations and playful bliss of this familiar ritual.”

The full lineup is in for our first dance back home in Marrickville on 25 October 🌞

London-based DJ and producer Lu.Re is a rising star in the UK club scene. Known for her DIY ethos, she draws inspiration from UK garage, grime, bass, and breaks to craft vibrant, sub-heavy club mixes that showcase her unique style and versatility.

One of the true dons of the UK Funky scene, the iconic Roska joins us in Australia for the first time since 2011. A key figure since the late 2000s, Roska has helped define the sound with his huge influence and innovative production.

No stranger to the ec2a/Hardline family, Fonzo makes his Australian debut. The Bristol-based DJ and producer has made his mark with already iconic productions and dynamic sets, earning support from Rinse FM and beyond.

And if that wasn’t enough “Bristol-based DJ and producer” for you, Yemz also makes her Australian debut. Known for high-energy performances and genre-blending, she weaves UK Funky, UK Garage, and Afrobeat into intentional, forward-thinking sets.

From across the pond, Sobolik brings the quintessential NYC sound—genre-blurring club music fusing UK bass, techno, and breaks. Co-heading All Centre, they’ve gained recognition with innovative releases on 3024, CloudCore, and Woozy.

Completing the international roster: India’s forward-thinking Rafiki/EZ Riser and staple UKG/UK Bass producer Holloway.

Of course, we round it out with some of our favourite locals: Fuchsia, King Henry, Latyx and Oddsocks.

This time our third stage, The Green, will be hosted by Northern Rivers favourites Submerge System, returning from our first dance.

Dayshift takes over the spacious Sydney Portugal Community Club (not the Madeira club) with 3 outdoor stages, 9+ hours of music, food trucks, retailers, and market stalls for a full day of food, fun and tunes in the sun.
Expect heavy bass weight across all stages, powered by MM Acoustics (Buzz Speaker Hire), Translate Sound, and Submerge System.

We’re well on track for another sell-out, so get your tickets now to join us on 25 October!
