We were recently invited to be a part of a project in Enmore - a vibrant Inner West locale, not far from our home base in Marrickville, on Gadigal land. What many people might not know is the extent of challenges involved in getting an independent venue off the ground in Sydney. Despite rising costs, prohibitive council regulations, a building industry in recovery from COVID & supply chain uncertainty, competition from large hospitality groups cashing in on the latest trends, the people behind Bar Demo have created something unique in an area where it's sometimes hard to stand out.

Undeterred by the challenging shape and orientation of the room (a quintessential Inner West long, thin commercial allotment) we were please to provide a full end-to-end solution, including custom mains (the Bar Demo HiFi's), centre fills (Translate 8C's), custom broadband acoustic treatment paneling, isolation for the speakers, and audio source equipment including a turntable with a custom isolation plinth & a digital streaming solution to cover all bases.

The Deadwax HiFi's - located at Deadwax bar on Enmore Rd in Sydney's Inner West (Gadigal land). Open Tuesday > Sunday.

Levels of accuracy rarely achieved through purely analogue mediums 🔊

> -6db at 36hz and 19.6khz
> +-2db in-room frequency response from target response curve
> Each speaker is measured and EQ'd to be within +-1db of each other to ensure accurate stereo imaging and room power response
> Linear phase crossovers at 420hz and 1.5khz
> LF Enclosure tuned to 47hz
> THD at 87db at average listening position (3m) 0.197% at 50hz, 1% at 100hz, 0.152% at 1khz, and 0.647% at 10khz
> Measurements taken with SPL calibrated Earthworks M30 and Topping E2x2 interface taken in Enmore, New South Wales by @translate.sound

Where meditation, music and movement meet in presence.

Studio Presence is a stones throw from the Translate workshop - located on Chapel St, Marrickville, a warm & friendly space utilising a pair of TS15 speakers, tuned to the room & speaker placement via measurement and acoustic analysis, with each speaker matching it's twin within ±1.5db for improvements in stereo imaging & fidelity, reproducing 32hz to 20khz (-6db) measured in-room response across the average listening position.

A preview look at the latest Translates, the TS10 (with A and B variants based on HF horn preference) are possibly the most full-featured speakers to come out of the workshop yet.

These TS10 are shown in a natural white & warm birch finish, and a caviar black + walnut burl and warm birch finish, featuring layered composite premium birch plywood end grain.

The TS10 feature set includes:
- Auto On/Off according to input signal
- Multiple high-frequency horn options
- Multi-stage output limiting system for comprehensive driver protection
- Dynamic frequency response processing for matched tonal balance at low & high volume levels
- Extremely clean amplification and DSP processing w linear phase crossovers for low distortion and optimum transient response, flared vents for controlled low frequency output at high and low volume, and 500w LF channel, 150w HF channel amplification
- Nitride coated titanium diaphragm compression drivers for smooth mellow sound and accurate transient response, 10" tetracoil low frequency woofer for low distortion (THD + IMD) at all drive levels, size efficient enclosure size of 24L
- FIR for overall linear phase & improved impulse response across frequency band from 500hz up
- Frequency response from 60hz to 20khz, multiple voicing settings available for a variety of orientations and placements, rotating magnetic badges for various possible speaker orientations (these can be positioned on floor, ceiling via eyebolts, or shelf mounted, etc
- DSP matched speaker pairs within +-1db of each other for accurate stereo imaging and consistent room response
- IP networking for remote DSP control & monitoring over WiFi
- Polyurethane spray coating for long lasting durability and UV protection
- Available in painted or hardwood veneered options
- Rubber feet for standard orientation (floor/shelf mounted), or eye bolts for hanging and suspending in a flown deployment
