STRIDE WITH PRIDE Yesterday was World Homeless Day, as well as World Mental Health Day. We joined Shelter (@sheltergreatermanchester) Rainbow Mind (@rainbowmindgm), Dyketopia (@_dyketopia_), Dykes Who Hike (@dykeswhohikemcr__) , Trans Pride (@transpridemcr), Trans Friendly Flat Seekers (@transfriendlyflats) and Our Motive (@ourmotivemcr) in a sponsored 5km walk around the city centre, passing famous queer landmarks, and Shelter's base. The aim of this walk was not only to raise funds for Shelter's fight against the Housing Crisis & RECORD HIGH Homelessness statistics - But also to raise awareness of the significantly disproportionate stats around LGBTQ+ homelessness. The Manchester Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) Vigil will take place on Friday 20th November in Sackville Gardens (M1 3HB)ā  ā  ā  Arrival from 6.30pm and the service will start at 7.00pmā  ā  ā  There will be a service of speakers and performers. Today I was privileged to share a reading at Cross Street Chapel's special Pride Service, in conjunction with #ManchesterVillagePride held over the bank holiday weekend. I chose a piece, by UU minister Jamie Yandle, as a love letter to our Trans Kin. Their struggles and persecution today reflect what can and will come for me, a gay man. Just because it's not here yet, doesn't mean it's not a risk or a reality. We stand together, or we fall together. The fingers and jibes and accusations pointed at them, are the same that be come to be pointed at me. Whether I choose to support, quietly or loudly, or stand aside worried about getting in the way or being caught in the wake of another's battle. Hate knows no boundary.
