You are behind because nobody taught you the rule that actually governs professional advancement.

The room does not reward the most talented person in it.
It rewards the most strategically visible one.

Epictetus — born into slavery, studied by emperors — said it plainly.

Concern yourself only with what is within your control.

Most professionals spend their entire careers frustrated by things outside their control.
Whether their manager notices them.
Whether the organisation values their work.
Whether the right door opens.

None of that is within your control.

What is?

How deliberately you position yourself.
How precisely you communicate your value.
How intentionally you build the relationships that shape your trajectory.

The moment you stop waiting to be discovered and start engineering the conditions under which you cannot be ignored — everything shifts.

Epictetus did not wait for Rome to free him.
He built a philosophy so powerful that emperors sat down to study it.

You have more freedom than he ever did.
The question is what you are doing with it.

🔖 Save this for the next time you feel overlooked.

Send this to someone who is waiting for their moment instead of building it.

My secret to making ’80s fashion for pennies? 🤫 The Goodwill Bins.

I started with a stained, shapeless black-and-white shirt that its previous owner had rejected. 😂

But those stripes had me envisioning The Go-Go’s, Debbie Harry, and early Madonna. And PINK. Lots of pink. 💖⚡️

So I raided the rejects:

✂️ An old tutu became a tulle brooch
💖 Thrifted lingerie became the lace collar, cuff & embellishments
⚡️ Old hot-pink Lycra leggings became fringe
🖤 Random thrifted lace became appliqués
⛓️ Grommet tape created the corset detail
✨ And I made glitter patches with my Cricut

Voilà: thrifted rejects → ’80s GLAM.

💰Super Tip Alert: At the Goodwill Bins, prices drop significantly by the pound, so it's cheaper to get a bigger haul!

That’s my favorite thing about the Goodwill Bins. You’re paying by the pound, so lightweight clothes and scraps can cost next to nothing—and the weird, damaged, and unwanted stuff can be PERFECT for upcycling.

You don’t need expensive fabric to make something fabulous.

Sometimes you just need somebody else’s rejects, a sewing machine, a bit of creativity, and absolutely no fear of hot-pink Lycra. 😆

♻️ Would you have rescued this shirt?

Nothing cooler than hearing our amps being used as they should. How about this ripper from @travisbrown using Catamp?!

Haven’t got Catamp yet? Then you need to change that ASAP!

Cool, Easy & Quick Punk Cuff Made From Random Scraps

🧵 Your forgotten clothes are begging for a second life. ♻️ Got an old pair of worn-out jeans, a stained flannel shirt, or a ripped scarf - don't throw them away. Instead, turn them into something unique and awesome.

✨ This cuff used to be a pile of fabric scraps. Denim, plaid, scarves, and other reclaimed fabrics came together to create a one-of-a-kind punk accessory with tons of texture and personality. And you can make one too.

🔨 For added detail, I installed grommets with a hole punch and grommet tool. If you don't have that stuff, don't fret; work with whatever you have on hand (such as sewing on soda tabs or buttons).

📍Experiment with different fabric combinations before sewing, pin everything in place, stitch it together, add a Velcro closure, and finish it off with a giant safety pin. The best part? No two cuffs will ever be the same.

🖤 Proof that trash has better style than the mall (even an 80s one filled with zombies).

♻️ Every scrap you save is one less headed to the landfill—and one more chance to create something that’s uniquely yours.

💬 What would you add to your cuff? Chains? Spikes? Charms? Embroidery? Tell me below!

Rock on, dude.

Thrift Flip - Cute Punk Crust Hat - one of a kind, made from a thrifted baseball cap from the Goodwill bins!

This unique upcycled hat is packed with reclaimed fabrics, spray-painted chains, spikes, hot pink patches made with my Cricut, and kawaii-style junk charms. I added grommets and stitched it with punk-inspired detail using colorful embroidery thread.

This piece includes camo print and army green as a respectful nod toward the goddess of the end-of-times, Tank Girl.

Why not look fabulous while your flesh burns from intense radiant thermal energy? ☢️

My creations are guaranteed to be fully biodegradable after the blast.

In 3 days, @amazingtransparentman will all practice together for the first time in over 20 years. I can't even describe how excited I am about this. To be able to go back and play these songs with everyone and for everyone again is wild. Thanks to everyone that's been involved with this happening.

We have 2 shows next weekend in the Chicago area and one show in Austin a couple weeks after. Check out the ATM account for links to tickets. Come hang out. I promise, it will not suck.

There's more to come!! 🩷🩷🩷
