Better late than never… Cheers to Summer 26❤️

“I learned that the best thing for people to do is to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live. God wants everyone to eat, drink, and enjoy their work. These are gifts from God.”

12 years at The Washington Post. I started here as an intern straight out of college, and until today, I had never left.

Because I basically grew up here, I could say a lot, but as any journalist knows, no one reads past the first paragraph, so I’ll keep it short: This was the ride of a lifetime, and I will carry it with me forever.

I’m so grateful to have spent a third of my life here, and I got to do it with some of the most astonishing, talented, wonderful people I’ve ever met. On to the next adventure!

My ride or dies at work

Most of the current social team. Proud to have been part of the loudest team in the newsroom 😂

Still can’t believe she said yes when I asked her to start making silly social videos together two years ago

Editing the one and only

Strike!

One of the greatest audience-focused thinkers in the business

The Pulitzer wall

My Well+Being squad

If something juicy was happening in the office, one of us was going to find out about it 😂

Video shoot lol

Another iteration of the social team (I would tag them but Instagram told me I was running out of tags on this one 🥲)

Solidarity

Best designers, best collaborators.

Ali! My first work bestie :)

The Snapchat team!

What I wore for Halloween one year.

I got to meet the legends, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein

One of the first days in the new building.

My last day :)

During COVID, there wasn’t much to do while in isolation. So one of my best friends from college @terppapi and I started an Instagram Live show known as “The Turnup.” It was a show where we discussed black love, relationships and things guys and girls didn’t get about each other. There were a lot of laughs and a lot of aha moments that arose but the sweetest gift is that it created a community. We lasted about 15-20 episodes before I called it quits 😭😭😭 but the folks who watched every week and contributed to the show became family. We started a groupchat and continued the conversations for years. Majority of folks that were in the group were friends of mine that I knew from different aspects of my life but they didn’t know each other. A couple of months ago we all finally came together in person after talking for years on groupchats and they met each other in person for the first time. There’s more of us than pictured but some folks are out of state or just couldn’t make it because of timing but it was so cool to be able to share a meal and a drink together and catch up with the rest of the gang. It’s one thing to be friends but when friends become family, it’s a euphoric experience. It’s so crazy how we all come from different backgrounds yet created a symbiotic connection. We are all human and we’re more alike than we are different. Our boy Travis brought us together because he was moving to Atlanta and he’s already killing it on social at the AJC. Proud of everyone and their accomplishments and looking forward to more linkups with The Turnup Gang. Creating community is one of the coolest parts of the human experience.
