Some very exciting news (not an April Fools joke!): I’m coming back to journalism ❤️

I have been named director of social media at @ajcnews. Truly a dream come true.

I’m so excited to be in ATL and help inform the communities that make the city what it is.

Journalism has always been about service to me, reaching people where they are, earning their trust, and telling stories that matter. After stepping away for a bit, I realized how much I missed the purpose, the urgency and the impact.

At the same time, leaving Arlington and the DMV will be so bittersweet. It’s been home for nearly 9 years, and the fitness community I found here has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life. The miles, the early mornings, the friendships, the support. I’ll miss all of it, and all of you. This community changed me for the better.

I’m grateful for every experience that brought me here, and even more grateful for the chance to help the AJC continue its mission. I can’t wait to learn, build, collaborate and grow in a city that I already love so much.

Big chapter ahead. And I’m so ready for it. Let’s go 🚀 by @travislyles

I was never someone who spent a lot of time thinking about getting older. But turning 33 today, and everything this last year has brought, has made me think a lot about time.

My dad was 33 when I was born. We lost him in November at 65. So today, I’m more than halfway to an age he never got to make it past.

It’s admittedly a strange place to find yourself. Old enough to fully understand how quickly life flies by, but young enough to still feel like there’s so much ahead. If the past year taught me anything, it’s to be more present for and appreciative of it all.

A year ago, we were celebrating my dad for winning distinguished alumni of the year at @christophernewportu (second photo). On Friday, we were back at CNU to honor him for receiving the “Life well lived award.”

There are so many ways I could take this caption, but I just want to say: please cherish your time with your people. I unfortunately learned the hard way that life is so incredibly short. So much can change in even a year. Don’t skip out on opportunities to be with people you love because you’re too tired, it’s too far, or you don’t feel like it. It’s always worth making the effort.

Every time I hear someone speak about my dad’s life it makes me want to be better. From his kindness towards random people to starting an event that raised more than 250k for charity to giving back each and every day to his community, he truly deserved both of these awards.

I’ve been staring at this caption for a while because I’m not sure there’s a way to do this post justice.

Over the past few weeks, I was able to go to and cover five World Cup matches for @ajcnews.

I grew up watching the World Cup on TV when it was in France, Korea, Germany and South Africa. I never imagined I’d one day be walking into a World Cup stadium with a media credential, getting to witness it all up close for my job.

I’ll always remember hearing the anthems before kickoff. The roar after each goal. Fans from every corner of the world singing, dancing and celebrating together. The moments between matches that never made it to social. Looking around the stadium and reminding myself to take it all in because I knew it wouldn’t last forever.

For one month, the world came to Atlanta. And I was lucky enough to get a front row seat.

More than anything, I’m just grateful. Grateful to the AJC for trusting me with this opportunity. Grateful for the people I met, the stories I got to tell and the memories I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.

I know I’ll cover more incredible events. But I don’t know if anything will ever feel quite like this.

It’s crazy how quickly things/moods can change in a soccer match, especially when two of the best teams in the world are playing.

Argentina vs. Egypt 2026 will be remembered forever in World Cup history. So glad and honored I was able to witness it in person.

Lots of good options this year and I’m sure there will be even more inside the stadium. Also got to check out the FIFA fan fest, which is downtown in Centennial Park and has such a great atmosphere.
