Why I became a chiropractor (I thought it was just for old people).

Then I spent an hour shadowing the chiropractor who owned this clinic, and I applied to school the next day. Dr. Shook on the people who pointed him toward this work.

Shoulder pain that seems to start in your neck? Here's where a Nanaimo chiropractor checks first.

Dr. Shook looks at Valerie's AC joint, where the collarbone meets the shoulder, with the scarf test. Then a gentle adjustment he calls the big hug.

Atlas has two ways to book a visit.

Atlas Essential is the standard visit: an adjustment, shockwave or laser, depending on what your body needs that day. Atlas Complete is the longer session, with all three in one visit. Dr. Shook explains both here.

New patients are welcome, and we direct bill most plans. Call (250) 585-6325 or use the booking link in our bio.

Cindy had lived with foot pain for over a decade and had quietly accepted she'd always have it. If you've made peace with an ache because you assumed nothing could be done, her story might be worth a few minutes. She talks about getting back to walking the course, in her own words.

That sharp heel pain with your first steps in the morning is one of the most frustrating things to live with, and it's rarely just about the foot. Is it the forefoot, the heel, or a tight calf pulling on everything? Watch how Dr. Shook works out what's really going on before treating it.

If you've got tingling or numbness running down a leg or arm, it can be unsettling not knowing why. Picture a nerve like a garden hose. When a disc presses on it, the signal gets pinched, and that's where the tingling and numbness come from. Here's a clearer picture of what's going on in there.
