“Girl on the Third Floor”

Year: 2019
Director: Travis Stevens
Genre: Haunted House Horror, Body Horror

Don Koch moves into a decaying Victorian house, hoping to renovate it before his wife and future daughter arrive. Determined to leave his troubled past behind, he begins restoring the property on his own, only to discover that the building conceals a dark and disturbing history. Strange substances seep from the walls, unexplained events grow increasingly violent, and an unseen presence seems intent on exposing Don’s deepest flaws. As the house tightens its grip on him, the renovation becomes a descent into guilt, obsession, and supernatural terror.

NEW EPISODES ALERT! Episodes 189 & 190 of Hollywood Obsessed Podcast are NOW STREAMING!

This week, podcast host @tonymiros sits down with acclaimed filmmaker @davidkittredge , whose fascinating documentary “BOORMAN AND THE DEVIL” explores the troubled production, extraordinary ambition, and enduring legacy of John Boorman’s controversial “Exorcist II: The Heretic.” Now playing in theaters, the documentary takes a thoughtful, deeply researched look at one of Hollywood’s most misunderstood cinematic experiments.

David shares his lifelong love of movies and his fascination with “The Exorcist” and its wildly unconventional sequel. He talks about why he believes “The Heretic” deserves to be reconsidered, the extraordinary risks John Boorman took, and the devastating backlash that followed the film’s release—including one of the most infamous preview screenings in movie history. He also reveals what it was like interviewing Linda Blair, Louise Fletcher, John Boorman, and others, and spending years turning mountains of research and interviews into a feature-length documentary.

And there’s SO much more! David takes Tony behind the scenes of “Boorman and the Devil,” offering an entertaining and revealing look at the making of the documentary, the unexpected reactions it has received from audiences, his love of physical media, and why he believes it’s so important to celebrate filmmakers who dared to swing for the fences.

It’s a candid, fascinating conversation about filmmaking, obsession, perseverance, and the passion it takes to tell a story you simply believe needs to be told. Cinephiles, film historians, and fans of Hollywood history won’t want to miss this one!
