“The meaning behind Hooligan touches on a few things. It speaks to a bit of my own professional career in which I’m a kid from the South. Specifically Kentucky and Tennessee. There weren’t a lot of African American chefs in my time coming up. I was always kind of feeling like a hooligan, like an outcast.” SO Proud of what this team is pouring their hearts into each and every night in Logan Square. Way to show up, Chicago!

TWO WEEKS IN. AND WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED. 🥂

Chicago, the love has been incredible.

Two weeks into opening Hooligan, and the response has been nothing short of amazing. From the kitchen to the bar, every detail has been intentional.

Proud to be building something special alongside Chef Christian Hunter, bringing his vision to life through an incredible culinary experience while creating a beverage program that stands on its own.

French technique. Midwest soul. Thoughtful cocktails. No shortcuts.

Seeing people connect with the food, embrace the cocktails, and genuinely enjoy what we’ve created is what makes all the long hours worth it.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s walked through our doors, shown love, and supported the vision. And a special thank you to the Chicago Tribune for the recognition.

It’s been about a year since I tasted the first iteration of @hooligan and I’ve been waiting for it to open ever since. Congrats @chefchristianhunter and @tredicjr Good things are worth the wait. Well in this case… @eater_chicago

Growing up, I remember thinking my Grandma had a straight shot to Heaven…that her prayers went from her lips straight to Gods ears. It was the way she prayed & how often she prayed, that made me believe God was especially sensitive to her calls—& He was & still is. I’m still living out her prayers over my life. She passed when I was 21 but her spirit is with me now more than ever.

Wisdom has taught me that it was her [relationship] with the Lord that propelled her prayers for our family to fruition & it’s been my biggest inspiration since.
.
The unwavering faith—the surrender—the praise; all trickled into my artwork the deeper my faith grew.
.
I wish I knew then what I know now. I think about the conversations we would have now that I understand God’s grace & never ending love for us. I carry her spirit with me & was holding her hand in spirit as I was being Baptized again as an adult (First time was in Puerto Rico @ 8 months).
.
A removal prayer dismantled anything and anyone that was holding me back & ever since I’ve been surrounded by newfound support & love. The weekend of my Baptism, I was asked for the first time to serve in the form of live painting during @lightoutsidesunday & that right there is God working in mysterious ways. Thankful & forever grateful for Him being in all the details.

I had to audit the sustanance and ask myself why am I still hungry?
Surrender came shortly thereafter..
I tried the fill a supernatural void with worldly consumption and it left me still starving. Surrender to Christ is the only antibody to a hedonistic existence that told me at all times I need more pleasure.

She’s just getting started and already surrounded by good company 🤝

Last week, we opened the doors to The Space Together for a first look. We celebrated with an evening of conversation, curiosity, and a glimpse into what this space is becoming.

To everyone who came through - thank you. For your presence, your energy, your words, and for seeing it with us before it’s fully formed. That kind of witnessing matters more than you know.
