Backstage before the preview of Theresa Wong’s Bodywork, a beautiful evocation of medical caregivers in which Regina Myers and I explore the piano like a human body. We love being here at the Mendocino Music Festival!

Flotation Device is turning 25 this weekend, and I'm pleased to be sharing the mic with my co-host John Seman, our former host Christopher DeLaurenti, and Jonathan Lawson who co-founded the show in July 2001 under the influence of such "guiding angels" as Alice Coltrane, William Parker, John Zorn, Pauline Oliveros and Giacinto Scelsi, all of whom will appear on the playlist of this special anniversary celebration, along with younger exponents of intentional and improvised music, including @VisibleCloaks, Cheval de Frise, @EllenMFullman and more. We'll also mark the 70th birthday of Bang on a Can co-founder Michael Gordon with a selection of his recent sound-cloud and classic postminimalist compositions.

Sunday, July 19, 10pm–Midnight PDT (GMT -7), on 91.3 @KBCS Bellevue/Seattle/Tacoma (streaming at KBCS.FM). Available in podcast format (with HQ audio) at Mixcloud.com. Creative and improvised music from the Northwest and around the world with host Michael Schell.
