POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Whew… this one was meaningful to me. 😥 As a product of DFW I still like referencing my roots in some way. I still remember watching videos of the DFW big homie Shaun Martin and his go-go parties (I’m late bc I should’ve posted this back on Shaun Martin Day) - and I felt like that would a good vibe to jam out to at the end.

And of course who doesn’t love a Timothy Wright classic??

Part 5-This video is featuring my other new baby niece Dalia Jones @jonessisters4 ! This niece was giving everyone a run for their money and was a total problem at SMAC the entire week!!! Dalia Jones you know that you need to stop leaving no crumbs for no one else in the house God, you outta be a shamed of yourself with all that carrying on and so forth! LOL you betta sang niece!! 🎤🎤🎤 🎤🎤🎤🎤

I am so grateful to be asked by @dorindaclarkcole Dorinda Clark-Cole to assist her with pulling together women musicians for SMAC!

Thank you Dr. Dorinda for this wonderful opportunity! When you thought things couldn’t get any better, by God’s grace things went so well the opening night of the conference, that she asked us to get the women together again. We did @doobiepowell Arrangement of Amazing Grace, and we made it our own.

I am so grateful to work with @mstrinatrine Trina Trine, @derestcraig Derest Craig FaggéTt and @trumpetladyt Syreeta Thompson to pull all of the ladies together to rehearse. It was a great collective.

I want to thank God for all of my sisters from another mister of ministering together. This was so wild and such an amazing experience for me, I am going to release segments from Friday night over the course of the next couple of days.

If you’ve been following me long enough, you know I have this addiction to cutting the beat in half lmbo - so I wanted a song that the whole band knew and could play without a lot of effort while also driving the song forward with the beat switch (idk why I picked a @rickydillard song and Quad was there lol)

OAN: Lucky Daye is one of my favorites rn and if I could’ve figured out how to shed to the whole second half of “Soft” that night, I would’ve 😂😩 @kdrum123 kept distracting me killing so bad!

A peek into my head while I was arranging this…

I’ve been studying a lot of other arrangers lately - a big thing for me is trying to create Strange Arrange level moments as I’m thinking through songs and transitions.

When I was tasked with creating something for the female band to play to, I wanted to incorporate songs that everyone would recognize (Call Him Up - @officialkeithpringle) while also injecting the flavor of other songs like He’s Up There - @markhubbard1015 . And THEN once I settled on “Call Him Up” I pulled in the samples from @bsladenow ‘s song to set up the intro 💡
