With the Mother’s Day promos rolling in thick and fast via emails, catalogues, and ads on every screen, we thought it was the perfect time to share this with you to help navigate the lead up to Mother’s Day with a new perspective.

Mother’s Day didn’t start with flowers, cards, or shopping sprees. It began in 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial to honour her late mum, Ann Jarvis.

Anna wanted a day for people to privately reflect on and honour their own mothers and how important women are.

But as the years went on, Anna watched the day become commercialised and completely taken over by florists, the confectionery industry, retailers, and even the political industry capitalised on it for political gain. She actually spent the rest of her life fighting to reclaim it for what it truly was.

So if this day feels heavy for you, that’s not wrong.
It’s the origin.

As much as Mother’s Day can make us feel alienated, left out, and isolated, we’re actually not on the outside of it. We are actually at the very heart of it ❤️

You don’t have to “get through” the day quietly.
You don’t have to smile your way past it.
You can honour it in your way, grief and all.

This day belongs to you, and that cant be taken away xx

It's Talk About Your Business Tuesday!!

This past weekend I did double duty serving as a vendor for two great event.

Thank you Courtney Kinder Sparks for inviting me to be a vendor at the Unshakable Business Summit: The Economy is not talking to me. The speakers were on point and the wisdom they shared was right on time. Continue being the visionary you are and bringing information such as this to the community.

On Sunday I was a vendor at Watch Women Work by Mia Moss and Katrina Rischer-Carpenter. The community came out! I had to leave early due to being recognized as a 25 year member in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Thank you so much Kelvin M Rodgers for working my table so I could be honored.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table, left with a flyer and to those who supported my business with a purchase. It is greatly appreciated.
