Craving Thai street food? Try the acclaimed Sura in Dupont Circle, a cozy underground bar and restaurant. The partner duo Billy (food) and Andy Thammasathiti (bar) based their food on the famous Bangkok Yaowarat street food market, and the taste and smell of their dishes will transport you there.

A little birdie told us that there is a grandma involved in the training of the chef, and you know what that means, the food is excellent and a perfect indulgence for a cheat day!

We tried the following:
✅Crispy Tofu Skin Roll – delicately crunchy with a delicious filling, you would want to order a second one!
✅Grilled Shrimp Woon-Sen – a sinfully rich noodle dish that will leave you craving it every day!
✅Esaan Skewers – perfectly cooked with a delicious char taste.

They didn’t have the grapefruit brûlée when we went so we had the fried banana special they had on the menu, but will be back for the grapefruit!

It's never too early to be thinking about Brunch!

"After taking Washington D.C. by storm with his elevated burgers and fried chicken sandwiches during the pandemic, Chef Elias Taddesse did it again with a delicious brunch menu that encompasses food inspired by his native Ethiopian, Northern African, Middle Eastern and American influences. An Institut Paul Bocuse graduate, Chef Elias worked in numerous prestigious and Michelin starred restaurants before opening his restaurant Mélange in D.C. Although Mélange was a takeaway only restaurant during the pandemic, it’s been open for dining in for a while, and it has both indoor and outdoor seating.

Now to the most important point, the food! All the dishes we tried were delicious comfort food, and like everything else Elias does, elevated and innovative as he expertly mixes spices from his native country with food from other cultures in a wonderful way! The Berbere Shrimp and Grits is one such example. Firfir, one of the most beloved Ethiopian breakfasts, was executed to perfection; the Ful is the best we’ve ever had, and we come from a family of ful fanatics so that’s saying a lot! The Fatira Trio is a savory, sweet crunchy deliciousness that you can’t miss and to finish, the Shahi Bread Pudding had us licking our fingers. Try the Tej (honey wine) Mimosa, Berbere Margarita, or the Bloody Mary that comes garnished with Kwanta (Ethiopian Beef Jerky)."
