Rathskeller: NYC Industry Presentation

It’s so rare to get the opportunity to be part of “new” work.

I was fortunate enough to be brought into this piece that has lived many lives before me. It was an honor to help bring @brianna_barnes_ ‘s incredible script, score, & characters to life! Thank you for trusting me with Becca ❤️ & congratulations to you on such a successful presentation (after wearing about 17 different hats to make this whole process run seamlessly)!

It was also a dream to work with @treycompton again. Your vision, care, & attention to detail is a beautiful thing to experience. (Social media-less) Alex is an absolute angel & attacked this beast of a score with ease and joy.

I was so inspired every day, surrounded by these amazing artists. Thank you @larahayhurst for making this all possible (& for having really awesome friends). I’m so so grateful.

@rathskellermusical is a special piece and I can’t wait to see the life it takes on from here! Until then ❤️‍🔥🤘🏼🎸☠️🥃

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to not only watch the thing you made come to life - but to also watch your community show up for you to make it happen. This is a show about dealing with pride, and at the end of it - our main character John finally asks for help. It didn’t hit me until this morning that this process has required me to do the same thing — lay down my pride, and ask for help. And wow, did help come. The amount of people who donated their time and talent to this process for free or almost free, who invested deeply, who lifted up my arms to help me carry this weight is just astonishing. I spent my twenties wanting to prove I could do everything myself. And a goal of my thirties was to let people in and let people help. What a gift to truly co-LABOR together on this project. Months of planning and work and fundraising went into last night, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. This show is ready for a full production, and I hope last night planted that seed for folks to wanna get on board. But regardless of the outcome, I truly feel like this one was of those mountaintop moments of my life. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, showed up for me, prayed for me, and believed in me near and far! I’m so proud of what this team pulled off. Self producing ain’t for the weak!!!!!!!!!! But in my weakness, 👆 is strong!! Thank you, God, for bringing Rathskeller into my life and a village to support it.

We are so excited to incorporate dance into our reading on Sunday with choreography by @krystyna.resavy - we’ll be giving the audience a taste of what movement would look like in our fully produced show!
