When does touch help a student, and when is it better to stay back?

In The Art of Touch & Hands-On Assist, we’ll explore nine types of assist, from making a movement felt to guiding a body through a transition, and when each one is useful. Every assist is an invitation, not a correction: it offers information and leaves the choice with the student.

This is a highly practical training: you’ll practise on each other, refine the quality of your touch and your own positioning, learn techniques for specific poses and receive feedback as you go.

For yoga, Pilates, barre and dance teachers, whether you assist a lot or hardly at all.

What makes one movement a meaningful preparation for the next?

In Pilates Advanced Sequencing, we’ll explore how exercises build upon and enhance one another and how changing the order, load, rhythm or direction shapes the whole practice.

This is a highly practical training: you’ll move, experiment, develop sequences and receive feedback, discovering the effects in your own body and translating them into your teaching.

For Pilates and barre teachers, and dance and yoga teachers with a sound grounding in anatomy and movement.

You’ll also receive the online Sequencing Library: five guided flows of around 20 minutes to revisit for practice and teaching inspiration.

For a 3rd year in a row I decided to run my annual bachata choreo bootcamp - a project near & dear to my heart which challenges me and teaches me so much every year as an artist, dancer, choreographer, teacher, coach, mentor... The best and most humbling learning experience every time that keeps me growing and learning. And I couldn't be more grateful for this amazing group of ladies that trusted me this year! 😍🤩❤️

In just 5 rehearsals we put together this choreo that blends lyrical interpretation, bachata sensual and some traditional-inspired bachata footwork ✨ - and I couldn't be happier with how my creative vision came to life 🎬🎭

Also we will 🔜 be transforming it into a stage show for this autumn - stay tuned 😉

Ready for another dance adventure: niet één maar twee danscursussen met eindshow deze herfst 😍
Babysteps becoming bigger steps outside my comfortzone and I LOVE IT 🔥
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Bits & pieces from Wednesday night’s first Primal Flow 🌀

We crawl, we slide, we roll, we get back up. Beast, crab, underswitch, shin box… ground movement on the floor, yoga shapes standing, and coordination as the thing we’re actually training.

Not the class order, not the whole thing: just some of the shapes we played with before putting it all together.

Same time next week: Wednesday 18:15, Doezastraat 2A. Come get a little lost with us. 🩵

This is what I’m teaching tomorrow, 18:15 in Leiden. Hard to describe, so, 45 seconds instead.

It’s called Primal Flow. Ground movement: crawling, floor work, getting from standing down to the floor and back up without stopping to plan it. Yoga shapes for the standing half, mobility through the joints, and soft transitions to travel between the two.

What it trains is coordination: which almost nobody trains. Not stretchier. Not one muscle at a time. Your whole body having to agree on something at once.

What tomorrow actually looks like: slow. We break the flow into pieces, drill the pieces, put it back together, run the whole thing. Knee down instead of hovering. Step instead of float. Regressions & progressions are part of the design.

What it won’t look like: you, knowing what you’re doing. The first one feels like learning a language. Everyone looks slightly ridiculous 😅🙈. That is genuinely the appeal. The brain start to really learn when we get a little lost.

Wednesday 18:15–19:15, Doezastraat 2A. Drop-in, all levels, no experience with any of this needed. I offer variations & we adapt to your body and level.

Send this to the person you’d want on the mat next to you, then actually bring them. 🌀

with love for movement in all its shapes & styles,
Fanny 🤍
