Yun Hai invites you to join @esze.e, chef at @wenwenbk , and @elyseinamine, a writer and editor based in New York City, for a happy hour and book talk featuring Taiwanese?, their forthcoming cookbook. 📍Tickets at link in bio.

We’re excited to host this at our new studio in Long Island City, where we’re (slowly) building a little test kitchenette and house our everyday Taiwanese object collection.

The afternoon will start with a short reception, featuring small bites and drinks provided by Wenwen, Yun Hai, and @chajiubysclab. Then, we’ll move into a talk and Q&A, featuring Eric and Elyse, moderated by @lisa.cheng.smith.

Tickets are $40 (the cost of a book) and include a signed copy. We will have additional books and products from Yun Hai Shop on site for purchase.

Elyse Inamine is a writer and editor based in New York City, with bylines in the New York Times, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Taste, and more.

Eric Sze is a party boy and, in his spare time, the chef-owner at Wenwen, a Taiwanese restaurant in Greenpoint.

Lisa Cheng Smith is the founder of Yun Hai, an importer and distributor of fine Taiwanese foods.

All 20 of these pictures include the Nian Gao from @winsonbakery I have been a fan of what they call a “mochi muffin” pastry since 2021, when they first launched it. Nian Gao is traditionally a Chinese new year cake, but like Winson does with everything else it is highly elevated. Seeing them explore different shapes, sizes, and most importantly flavors has been so fun! The original glazed one is in the slides and my favorite one was the peach corn from August 2024. Some bakeries that do seasonal pastries repeat the same flavors every year, @winsonbakery flows with the seasons & what’s available at the green market. I am a huge fan of this philosophy. While some flavors have returned year after year, they are further developed and it clearly shows! Next time you visit @winsonbakery try the Nian Gao, it pairs really well with the Xian Bing. @daniellespence @trigg.brown @therealkeanureeves
