the most perfect day!! this encounter with this specific pod has been something i’ve been just barely missing since high school and i can’t believe it finally happened!

normally this pod is sighted in san diego just a few times a year, but we’ve been lucky enough to have them come through every few weeks this fall!

Octopuses don’t just change color, they change their skin texture using muscular structures called papillae. Their camouflage is a literal reflection of how they perceive their environment and they can change appearance in milliseconds.
