I firmly believe homemade decorations are the best decorations. You make them in your style and taste and it’s fun to look at something you or your kids made yourself. That’s why we loved that @trinketsatx has so many options for holiday crafts. We went in October before Halloween, so of course we wanted to make spooky Halloween decorations! But you can go anytime of year and make beautiful and personal seasonal decorations there. My older daughter’s “snowy haunted house” will also double as a Christmas decoration! Do you like making your own decorations too? Head to Trinkets in Austin, Texas to create your own unique festive craft! #halloweendecorations #halloweencrafts #craftingwithkids #austintexasplaces #familytravel

Weaving is one of my favorite fiber arts projects. The rhythm is simple to learn (over, under, over, under....), but there are so many stitches and ways to do it, you never get bored. There's almost always something else you can try. Circle weaving is a wonderful way to learn the basics. You don't have to worry as much about draw-in or the overall design. Once you are finished, you can turn the loom and decide which way it looks best to you. If you are in the Austin area and are interested in learning how to weave, come to one of my workshops at @trinketsatx on Saturday, October 24. There's a session for kids and one for teens and adults, and all supplies are included. Hop over to the Trinkets ATX page for the link to register. See you soon. 🩷

We spent two evenings crafting at @trinketsatx in Austin, Texas! (we had so much fun the first night we came back again for more crafting and drinks the second day of our trip to Austin) Trinkets is a unique pay by the hour craft social. You can use any materials in the shop to create whatever craft you can imagine. I loved seeing what my kids created with this open-ended concept, where the possibilities are endless. I love crafting, but I also like having a starting idea and instructions - too many options can be overwhelming for me. I literally wanted to make everything. Luckily, Trinkets has several pre-designed options. They give you the idea and supplies, and you take it from there to personalize it and make it your own. I choose their best seller, Adopt a Ghost. I create a spooky terrarium which is my new favorite decoration and I’m so proud I made it myself. My kids each created a few projects. My kids loved getting to use “messy” crafting items I don’t always let them use at home, like glitter and acrylic paints. My son tried something new - a wooden coaster with a design burned on it. The owner, Leslie, was so patient teaching him how to use the wood burning tool before he got started. The owners Leslie and TJ are family, but I know they are just as welcoming, helpful, and fun with all their customers. Trinkets is located on a large property shared with a brewery. There are also food trucks, a large grass area with picnic tables, and a playground on the property. You can grab a drink and bite to eat before, during, and/or after your crafting session. It makes for a perfect evening out for the whole family. If we lived in Austin, I know my kids would enjoy having their birthday parties at Trinkets. It is such a great space for gatherings with fun projects. I also would love to have mom’s night out here to have some drinks, craft, and chat with my girlfriends. Since we live 2 hours away in Houston, I’ll have to settle for a visit every time we’re in Austin. Definitely add Trinkets to your plans during your next trip to Austin! And if you’re a local and you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for? #austinwithkids #aus

Just because I still have platforms my twenties doesn't mean I should still wear the platforms from my twenties. They broke while I was running errands, and miraculously held together with superglue for whole night's party. Theres's something about this time of year that makes me want to dress like a Tumblr Girl. #tublrgirl #2016nostalgia #2016fashion #christiangirlautumn #fallfashion

🕯️CANDLE CRAFT is one of my favorite ways to design a sensory experience and explore my creativity. Each component and step of the process can become an intentional choice: designing the visual aesthetic, evoking particular emotions through scent, and creating a ritual: stir, pour, adorn, light, breathe, gaze… If you’re curious about making your own candles, then I would love to be your guide!  In this 2-hour workshop, I’ll show you the tips and tricks for pouring your own candle, with a bespoke scent I’ve created just for this event. You will design, pour, and adorn your own 8-ounce candle and a matching tealight! Choose from a selection of vessels, wicks, and adornments from my personal stores (crystals, herbs, flowers, charms, glitter, etc.) that align with your desired aesthetic, intention, and preferences. Since we are in that liminal time of year when the weather is shifting and the veil is thinning, our candle craft this month will center around communion with this energy. Perhaps you want to use your candle for quiet meditation, remembering lost loved ones, connecting with the other side, or just creating a cozy vibe. I will provide all the materials and instructions. You will leave with new knowledge and two candles you make yourself!  ✨ * When: Friday, October 23 | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM * Where: Trinkets ATX | 6218 Brodie Ln, Austin, TX 78745 * Cost: $66 Reserve your spot today at trinketsatx.com/workshops! #candles #diy #atx #do512 #atxcreatives

💀 DEATH. It comes for us all, and this time of year – moving through Fall and toward Winter – it may feel like it’s peeking around every corner. The DEATH card in tarot is symbolic of more than just that transition into the unknown. This month, we’re going to dive deeper into the meanings and symbolism behind this tarot card, examining the circle of Life and Death as a means of self discovery, healing, connection, and beauty. Ready to sweep that fear aside and look into the future with grounded confidence? Join your community for the next Tarot Card Collage workshop, where we will get comfortable with the Death tarot card and create our own versions with personal meaning. As always, we will explore the card’s symbolism and meaning through group discussion, journaling, and hands-on collage making. ✨ * When: Friday, October 9 | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM * Where: Trinkets ATX | 6218 Brodie Ln, Austin, TX 78745 * Cost: $33 Reserve your spot today at trinketsatx.com/workshops! #tarot #diy #atx #do512 #atxcreatives

I forget what all I’ve posted on which accounts and platforms at this point or what songs I’ve used but I know I wanted to do a recap video of Austin so here it is. Wow this brings me a tremendous amount of joy to watch back. The schedule was packed and we squeezed in so many things in a short span of time. Even this recap is missing a few things. We had many brunches and coffee stops, a lil shopping, a Zeds Dead show where we got to play Shrek dress up, we kayaked, went to a drag brunch and a craft studio, of course got a few small pockets of flow in, and made memories on the back porch in between activities. Love you @lexhoopsincrocs ❤️ Hope your Texas bachelorette party was everything you dreamed of and more.
