That's a wrap! 2026 was a banger of a year. The @adventurecycling GGT launch and 50th anniversary, fires that closed us for a month, intrepid travelers on the COBE, the TransAm Bike nonstop, numerous friends helping with projects, and amazing donors.

We can't thank you all enough. See you spring of 2027!

This is the final section on the Golden Gravel Trail and as of Saturday AM, we've got 600 kilometers to go until we reach the end point on the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau, MO.

When @trip.longer (@thisisalibecker) reached out about their bikepacking plans for the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route AND the Golden Gravel Trail back-to-back, we knew that the Fluent rims would be exactly what they needed. As Mat & Ali near the end of the Golden Gravel Trail, they sent us a thoughtful writeup about how the Fluents (and their tire choice of Ehline 29 x 2.5) were holding up.⁠

It's been a minute since I've felt so challenged by the wind.

I remember years back when riding the Great Northern Bikepacking Route, dodging tornado watches in Saskatchewan, fighting head and crosswinds, saying I never needed to ride across the prairies again. 😂😂

And yet, here we are.

TBH, I hadn't thought about the winds on the Great Plains when planning to ride the Golden Gravel Trail, and in some ways I'm glad I didn't, because I might have been reluctant.

Alas, the wind has been a great teacher on this ride.

A chance for my victim to flare up and complain, and a chance for the wiser, stronger voice in me to remind myself, "You can do this."

Better yet, "I get to do this."

When I felt so beat down yesterday I started saying out loud the things I am grateful for - my grandparents meeting, my parents having me and my brothers, my childhood friends, meeting Mat, etc.

It's hard to be upset when you're being grateful 👌🏼

Feeling anger and overwhelm rise up has also been a signal of needing rest, and better self care - where can I tighten up the nutrition, what CAN I control that will help me enjoy the ride and have more fun?

I guess this is a long winded (hehe) way of saying maybe everything IS happening for us.

And that these great tests are just helping us become more of the badass, resilient people (who learn to also take care of themselves) that the world needs more of.

I've never experienced more considerate drivers while cycling than on my first day in Oklahoma.

I'm talking semi-trucks, work trucks, jacked up trucks, town cars, mini vans, all the vehicles!

EVERY SINGLE DRIVER waved, pulled waaaay over (oncoming traffic too) - slowed down, and gave us TONS of space.

I don't know what they teach drivers about sharing the road with cyclists here, but they teach 'em good.

Here's hoping the whole dang panhandle on the Golden Gravel Trail is this accommodating (and the wind continues to be at our backs) or our side backs at the very least 😂

So far, so fun.

Hello, Kansas.

New state unlocked. It kind of reminds me of being back home in Saskatchewan, except the roads are sandy and sometimes red.

A local told me you can see for a hundred miles and if you stand on a tuna can, you can see for two hundred.

It's beautiful here all the same, cactus mixed into the prairie landscapes, dry, crackled farm floors and tall grasses that wave in the wind (and there is definitely no shortage of that so far) 😂.

Excited for what's to come. Kansas. Oklahoma. Missouri.

I’ve been following Matt and Ali( @trip.longer ) for awhile on their Golden Gravel trail adventure. I saw they might be coming through Pueblo the same time I was here. I was walking around the packet pickup for @grassrootsgravel and saw them ride in. It was so nice to meet you guys and I’ll see you in Springfield, MO area!
