Dirt Therapy: The Rider Within.

Finding out rock bottom had a basement was a necessary step in the right direction.

Getting out on my bike was another tool I needed. Clear the mind. Push my body. Get outside. Some of the best rides were the ones I got to share with my dad, my dog Bo, and, when things lined up, my uncle Del.

Those rides were everything.

And seeing my dad and Del still getting out there on bikes at 73 and 78 years old is pretty fucking unreal.

You have to be willing to lose people you once considered friends. You need good people in your corner. You need to be willing to openly talk through the hard shit, and you need to accept it when someone tells you a truth you don’t necessarily want to hear.

As Mike Tyson put it, “you have to live life on life’s terms.”

Meeting my wife was another necessary part of the journey. She could see right through me. There were some hard truths, but they were necessary ones. She showed them to me, and I had to be willing to face them.

Replenish. Rebuild. Be a good human. Be kind to yourself.

And don’t make eye contact with trees while going downhill on a mountain bike.

Most importantly, remember:

Live pretty fast. Die pretty old.

Three deep breaths.

This is what building a world-class pump track looks like.

The @velosolutions_canada crew has been hard at work at Mt. Nelson Athletic Park, shaping, paving, and finishing every roller, berm, and transition by hand. There’s a reason Velosolutions won the RFP for this project. They’re specialists in asphalt pump tracks, with more than 800 tracks built worldwide, from community recreation spaces to international competition venues. The track will also be part of Velosolutions’ new @vorld.app, connecting our local pump track with their global network.

The Mt. Nelson Pump Track will feature two tracks from a shared start, creating opportunities for different ages, abilities and skill levels. And it won’t just be for bikes; skateboards, scooters, and inline skates can all enjoy it for years to come. Every curve is carefully shaped, every transition refined, and every section built to create a track that flows. Whether it’s someone’s first time on a pump track or they’re an experienced rider looking to progress their skills. We can already picture this place full of kids, families, and riders.

This powerful short film follows Invermere-based trail builder Lindsay Bishop and the path that led her into digging, shaping and building trails, including the legendary First Blood trail in Hope, BC.
Linds worked for me on First Blood and I saw firsthand the strength, determination and skill she brought to the mountain every day. Trail building became a place for her to find peace in nature, work through difficult moments and give something meaningful back to the mountain bike community.
At the end of the film, Linds says: “There’s no such thing as giving up.”
That is exactly how I remember her. She is one of the best trail builders I have hired in more than 20 years.

Best trip of 2026 💕✨💫
To @linds.bishop……
Being by your side, I’ve had the privilege of watching you pour your heart into everything you do. Your heart and soul are bigger than the sun! ☀️

Your thirst for authenticity is something you don’t come across every day. And with that, brings a beautiful depth that’s hard to find in everyday friendships.

I’m so damn proud of the woman you’ve become, and so happy we made the trip to watch the final cut and premiere of your film project, and that we got to spend the sickest weekend together at @crankworx .

Biking brings people to the mountains for many reasons…..
It’s a place where we can tune out the world, and tune into ourselves. A place to pour it all out and leave it on the trail….
Through all the ups and downs, setbacks, dialled in lines, hard crashes, lessons learned, big wins and breakthroughs, we grow.

And to @tristan.proctor….. you make one hell of a film! You guys nailed it.

We got 2nd Place in @crankworx DIRT DIARIES with our @lone_wolf_productions team this year. Congrats to @nolan.fielding and his team for the win and @tristan.proctor and @linds.bishop for 3rd Place. There was the biggest crowd ever for Dirt Diaries this year!
