IRONMAN California ☀️

What a day !!

As I told one of our athletes @katie_.larson the day before the race - doing an Ironman is one of those BIG asterisk moments in your life. Embrace it for all it is.

So incredibly proud and grateful to be on the sidelines supporting all the @nvdmcoaching athletes. I do my best to spot them all out there and give them a word of encouragement, but keeping track of 45 is next to impossible. 😅

3 of the 45 I personally coach ( as I get asked that all the time ) - @crodtv @mattchoi_6 and Paul S and they all had incredible days as all 3 are incredibly hard workers and dedicated athletes. I just try my best not to mess up a good thing. 😅

With that being said, I am SO excited for their future in the sport. Yesterday was a moment that purely showed what truly is possible for them. 📈📈📈
Watch this space !!

We also had 3 coaches racing yesterday as well - @sharp_tahoe @kennymeyerracing @triwithbruney - and @nvdmcoaching wouldn’t be possible without the coaching team and ALL the athletes that invite us into their lives and entrust us with their passion, athletic goals and in some cases ( most cases ) a major life overhaul. An opportunity to serve and support that we don’t take for granted.

Comment “swim” and I’ll send you 3 swimming workouts for free.

A lot of people delay signing up for their first race because they aren’t strong swimmers and don’t know if they could ever get good enough to complete an Ironman swim.

But the sooner you start going to the pool and getting in the water the faster that anxiety goes away. Just like anything in life, the more you repeat the skill, you get better at it.

Like all parts of triathlon training, consistency and reps matter more than anything else. So get down to the pool and start swimming and you will quickly start to feel more comfortable in the water.

I recommend going at least 3x per week trying to hit 2km per workout, 6km total per week to see progress.

Combining swimming into your training routine is a game changer and will significantly improve your fitness.

If you want a custom training plan for your next race and to be a part of a community setting, hit the link in the bio and fill out an application!

5 years ago I fell in love with this sport, and it has changed my life ever since.

I’d love to be all cool and nonchalant about it, but that’s the furthest thing from the truth.

It’s my biggest passion and purpose.

It’s led me to build @team.kona where I have now raced, trained, or traveled around the world with hundreds of other athletes while connecting through the sport. I haven’t gone a single day without working on the dream and mission, thinking about the next launch, or planning that next team trip.

It’s introduced me to an endless amount of inspiring people who are all part of the amazing fitness community, and I connect with new friends literally every single day through social media because of shared interests.

It’s challenged me in ways I never thought possible, both mentally and physically.

It’s allowed me to become a leader and a student at the same time.

It’s blessed me with the ability to inspire and change others’ lives.

It’s gotten me through my hardest times, and provided me with all my favorite memories.

It’s genuinely my favorite thing in the entire world.

Thank you triathlon.

Excited for more.

What an incredible experience. My first ever triathlon, and I already know it won’t be my last.

If you’re on the fence about doing an IRONMAN 70.3, I can confidently say you won’t regret it. What a race, and what an amazing group of people I got to meet along the way.

After taking eight weeks off from training, I only had three weeks to get ready. I went into the race conservatively because I didn’t want my legs to blow up and crossed the finish line in 5:35:14 with plenty left in the tank.

I’m so grateful to God for the strength to get to that starting line and I’m so grateful for the friends I made during this training block and for all the friends and family who came out to support me. There’ll be a more races between now and next year, but I’ll be back in Augusta chasing that sub-five.

Let’s growwwww!

How bad do you want it…

Ironman 70.3 Augusta🍑 - 5:14:26

A day full of unwavering grit, determination and a will to cross the finish line regardless of the circumstances.

7:21:30 at Ironman 70.3 Augusta. Not the result I wanted but I have to say what an amazing experience it was. To get out of my comfort zone and do something so extremely demanding will always be a win no matter what.

I was terrified of the open water but I knew that if I could get through that I would 100% finish the race. I had to remind myself countless times of all of the hard work that I had put in over the last 5 months. From not being able to swim 25 yards to swimming 1.2 miles is insane to think about.

Once again I reminded myself that no matter how hard something feels or how many times you want to quit, there is always something better on the other side of fear.

Everything that you want is in the one place you’re not willing to go.

This is once again your reminder to do hard things not because you have to, but because you can.

I want to give a huge thank you to my coach, @triwithbruney who has coached me over the past five months and helped develop me into the athlete who crossed that finish line. Without him, this wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you, and thank you to @nvdmcoaching for welcoming me into your community and allowing me to be a part of it.

One hell of a day with friends and family. I’m a lucky man.

Thankful for @emilymiears - she’s the best supporter I could possibly ask for. She spends a whole weekend running around just to cheer me on, and makes me believe in myself.

Thankful for my parents who flew across the country just to watch me. They are the reason I am who I am today.

Thank you to my coach @triwithbruney for putting me through pain and suffering the last few months - but man I’ve never hit my times more perfectly. The man knows what he’s doing.

Thankful for all the friends who I’ve raced with, trained with, and who push me to become a better version of myself.

Iron sharpens iron baby.

And thank you to everyone who constantly sends good luck and motivation. Means the absolute world.

Sub 5. Mission complete.
