🇵🇹 IRONMAN 70.3 PORTUGAL — ONE WEEK ON ❤️

A week on from IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal, and I’ve been reflecting on what was a pretty special experience.

There’s so much that goes into getting to a start line — the training, the early mornings, the sessions when you really don’t feel like it, the sacrifices and all the little doubts along the way, made easier with the help of @triwolfcoach. And then race day arrives, and you just have to trust the work you’ve put in.

The day itself wasn’t without its challenges. Losing my watch during the swim definitely wasn’t part of the plan 😂 but that’s a racing for you! You have to adapt, keep your head in the game and crack on.

I’m feeling grateful — for the training, the lessons, the memories and the reminder that we’re capable of more than we sometimes give ourselves credit for.

Would I do it all again? Absolutely. 😉

On to the next challenge! 🏁 Abu Dhabi world long distance championship in Nov

RACE DAY TOMORROW – IRONMAN 70.3 PORTUGAL 🇵🇹 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

The training is done and the hard work is in the bank. I'm feeling relaxed and happy. Now it’s time to see what I can do 💪

A massive shout out to @triwolfcoach for providing the workouts and structure to get me into race shape. The sessions are done, the preparation is complete, and now it’s time to trust the process and go to work! 🐺

it's time to embrace the pain, enjoy the experience and give it everything. Whatever happens tomorrow, I want to cross that finish line knowing I couldn’t have given any more, emptying the tank and no regrets. 🔥🏁

One race. One goal. Empty the tank. 🤘(And survive in the heat 😂)

🇵🇹 Let's do this!

YOU’RE GONNA MISS THIS SOMEDAY. 🥹🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

One day, you’ll look back and realise these were the days. ❤️

The early alarms. The long runs. The cold swims. The hours on the bike. The sessions when you didn’t feel like showing up, but did it anyway.

The days when your legs were heavy, your mind was tired, and finishing the session felt like a victory in itself.

Right now, it might feel like a grind. You might be chasing a goal, working towards your first triathlon, or wondering if you’re even capable of doing it.

But one day, you’ll miss the journey. 🥹

You’ll miss the feeling of getting stronger.
You’ll miss the little wins nobody else noticed.
You’ll miss the people you met along the way.
You’ll miss the version of yourself who was brave enough to start something new.

Because it’s never just about the finish line. It’s about who you become getting there. 💪

So stop waiting for the perfect time. Stop telling yourself you’ll start when you’re fitter, faster, or more confident.

START NOW. YOUR FUTURE SELF WILL THANK YOU. 🔥

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Start your triathlon journey now with coaching from @triwolfcoach

Whether you’re dreaming of your first sprint triathlon, building towards an Ironman, or simply looking for a new challenge, your journey starts with that first step.

You don’t have to be ready for race day today. You just have to be ready to begin.

One day, you’re gonna miss this someday.

Make sure you give yourself something worth looking back on. ❤️

🏃‍♂️ Shrewsbury Half Marathon — 1:30 Pacer 🏃‍♀️

Another fantastic morning at the Shrewsbury Half Marathon, and once again I had the privilege of taking on the 1 hour 30 minute pacing role.

The goal was to cross the line in 1:30 — and we came home in 1:29:36! ⏱️🙌

I’ve been fortunate enough to pace the Shrewsbury Half Marathon for many years now, and I absolutely love this voluntary role. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping people achieve a goal that they may have been working towards for weeks, months, or even years.

Seeing so many people out there challenging themselves, becoming more active and achieving things they perhaps never thought possible is a brilliant reminder of just how powerful sport and exercise can be. ❤️

As a triathlon coach, I’m passionate about helping people develop not just in triathlon, but across different disciplines and sports. Whether your goal is to improve your running, cycling, swimming, triathlon performance, or simply become fitter and more confident in your chosen activity, I love helping people find a way to progress.

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part today — whatever your time, you crossed that finish line, and that’s something to be proud of. 👏

Thanks to the organisers, volunteers, fellow pacers and everyone who made today such a great event.

This weekend I returned to Weymouth 70.3 @ironman_uk for the 4th time — a race I always enjoy for the course and incredible support.

Having only returned to run training in late June, it was the first time in a long while that I have arrived at a start line feeling confident in my body, but nervous about what I could do. The goal was simply to put together a solid race and not compare myself to previous years.

I finished in 4:19, taking 6 minutes off my 2024 course PB, finishing 7th overall and 4th in my age group. The final 5km was brutal, but I’m really happy with how my body held up over the distance.

The biggest thing I’ve learnt this year is that being healthy and being able to do this sport is what brings me the most enjoyment. This weekend was a good reminder of how much I love racing. 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

IRONMAN Italy 🇮🇹, 09:37:00 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Not the time I came here wanting, but one I’m still incredibly proud of.

3.8km swim 🏊‍♂️
180km bike 🚴‍♂️
42.2km run 🏃‍♂️
09:37 finish ⏱️

The last few weeks haven’t exactly gone to plan.
I’d been ill and, even flying out here, I still wasn’t 100%. I felt okay, but my throat was swollen and I was sleeping a lot more than usual.
No real cough or cold. just not quite myself.

Then race day arrived.

The swim got pretty choppy with the wind and rain, and the bike was windy too, with a couple of torrential downpours.
I struggled to hold the power I wanted on the bike, and as the kilometres ticked by, it just got harder.

Coming into T2, I sat down for around six minutes wondering if I could actually finish the marathon.

Eventually, I decided not to think about 42.2km.

Just get to the first aid station.

I made it.

Then the next one.

And the next.

Get to a feed station. Walk it. Keep moving. Repeat.

And somehow, I got around.

09:37 isn’t the time I wanted, but it’s a finish that taught me a lot.

Ironman racing is hard. Really hard. And sometimes the race doesn’t go the way you planned.
But you learn that you can keep moving even when things get tough.

Just keep going. One step at a time. 💪

Always learning.
Always moving forward and sharing what is possible with other athletes @triwolfcoach Triathlon Coaching

🥽 TRIATHLON TOP TIP — STOP YOUR GOGGLES LEAKING!

Fed up with your goggles filling with water halfway through the swim? 🌊

Here’s a simple tip that can make a big difference:

👉 Put your goggles on BEFORE your swim cap.

Get the goggles sitting comfortably and create a good seal around your eyes first.

Then pull your swim cap over the goggle straps.

This helps keep the straps secure and reduces the chance of them moving when you dive in, get bumped around or start swimming hard.

💡 Bonus tip:
Don’t overtighten your goggles! A good seal comes from the shape of the gasket around your eyes, not from crushing your face with the strap.

And remember: different goggles suit different faces.

If they still leak after adjusting them, they may simply not be the right shape for you.

We love @zone3official goggles

Small changes. Better swim. Faster race. 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Save this for your next race! 📌
