Baby Luna loves bananas and has developed an adorable habit in the way she eats them! 🍌🐘

Unlike her mother, Nong Pon, who can easily fit a whole bunch into her mouth at once, Luna grabs a bunch with her little trunk and shakes it until all but one banana falls off—leaving her with the perfect little snack to pop into her mouth! 😆

Little Luna’s world is full of new adventures, from navigating the jungle’s winding hills to figuring out how best to use her ever-curious trunk. Growing up in the natural surroundings of Journey to Freedom, she has the freedom to explore at her own pace, guided by the reassuring presence of her devoted mother. 💚🌿

Join our half-week or one-week program at Journey to Freedom to meet baby Luna and the rest of the herd, and help support elephants living a natural life in their peaceful jungle home! Link in bio to learn more and book your experience.

A heartfelt thank you to all our kind supporters who help provide food for the elephants! 🙏💛🐘

🐘🌳 Did you know? Tree bark is part of an elephant’s diet!

Elephants are herbivores that eat a wide variety of plants, including grasses, leaves, branches, fruit, and bark. Their food choices vary with the seasons and what is available in their habitat. 🌿

In this video, you can see an elephant eating bark a natural feeding behavior. Elephants can also use their tusks to help strip bark from tree trunks.

Trees provide both habitat and food for elephants. By protecting healthy forests, we help protect the elephants that depend on them. 💚

Lek’s voice for elephants continues to grow across the range countries. Now she’s helping to shape change in Nepal.

Lek has signed an agreement with Nepal’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, working with the Ministry of Forests and Environment, to improve care for elephants living under human care and to better protect wild elephants and their habitats.

Before signing, Lek and her team spent time on the ground in Nepal, visiting elephants, meeting the people who care for them, and listening to the challenges they face.

As Lek says, signing is only the beginning. The real measure is how many elephant lives change for the better.

We’re so proud to stand alongside her and support this work.

There is something so satisfying about watching Ming and Kham Suk splash, play, and bond together in the cool river at Elephant Sanctuary Laos. 💦🐘💙

Although still a young elephant, Ming has already spent a large part of her life living in safety and freedom—and you can see it in her every single day. Her joy for life, vibrant curiosity, and positive energy are unmistakable.

It has been especially heartwarming to see her befriend and encourage the sanctuary’s newest arrival, Kham Suk, who was rescued about three months ago. With her playful and carefree spirit, Ming is helping Kham Suk discover a life without fear or the pressure to comply. She even tries to share that same uplifting energy with the older elephants.

For many of the senior residents, freedom is sadly only a small chapter in a long life. That makes every single day they spend in peace—surrounded by gentle care and the comfort of their herd—all the more precious.

WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY

Wildlife Week celebration begins with an interactive session with children! 🐘🐆

As elephant electrocution deaths become a serious concern and leopard attacks emerge as a growing challenge, let’s give children the space to become teachers for their own friends.

From understanding the importance of elephants to learning how to stay safe during leopard encounters, children shared knowledge, awareness, and responsibility with one another.

Because the future of wildlife conservation begins when children learn—and teach others to care. 🌿

Gee Lee, Honey, and Buay explore the jungle together foraging on tall grass as they wander down the path. Seeing them so relaxed and at home in their natural habitat is a deeply moving reminder of the importance of giving elephants the space and freedom to simply be elephants. 🐘🌿

Visit Journey to Freedom to witness a family herd living together in the forest, where they can forage and explore at their own pace, guided by their natural instincts.
