These last few weeks have been quite a trip, learning about sausage making and other classic forcemeat techniques, at work refining a lot of plating ideas and flavor profiles I had never thought to put together, and in life I’m just enjoying time with the lady when I can and trying food I haven’t had before or enjoying classics that I’ve made a million times over. I turned 21 recently and have been having the most RESPONSIBLE fun celebrating that with family and friends, I’ve been honored to help with extracurricular activities around school like cooking for the president of GRCC and her colleagues, and these next few weeks since I don’t have classes set up for these next 7 weeks I may make a special appearance at the Electric cheetah to fill the time I have open for this last bit of the semester catch me at the cheetah the first half of the week and Trust the other half. Love y’all keep cookin keep growing, gettin closer to being done with school I can’t wait!!❤️

With @trust_gr, it’s not just a dinner: it’s an experience. Even the collard greens have a story to be savored.

Mom & Dad went out for a date and we had to check out the buzziest lil place in town (and @tellerslounge, the bar next door, is the perfect spot for pre — or post — dinner dranks).

This intimate chef-driven tasting menu has only been open a few months and snagging a resy isn’t easy. The chefs table is limited to only a handful of covers each night. Love to see what @cheftrimell is bringing to the city and I hope this continues to create space for other progressive concepts around town.

Grateful for every opportunity, every shared laugh, every memory created and every single day I get up is a chance to make a difference and do it all over again.

September plans in Grand Rapids are officially looking good. 📍

I rounded up the local happenings, places worth adding to your list, and a few things that deserve a spot on your calendar this month—think ArtPrize downtown, a stroll through the Fulton Street Farmers Market, and patio season at its absolute peak.

Consider this your shortcut to figuring out what to do when the group chat hits you with, “Any plans this weekend?”

Save this one for later and send it to your favorite person to explore Grand Rapids with.

So sad to see summer end but beyond thankful for the memories made and knowledge attained over the last few months. As I go into my last run through GRCC’s culinary program I reflect heavily on where I started to where I’m at currently and where I’d love to grow towards. I can’t believe still that I’ve gone from a simple little fry guy at an Arby’s to cooking at a restaurant with the most unique concept to hit Grand Rapids in years. The growth this new opportunity has granted me is beyond what all my past jobs could offer, in such a unique and exciting way as well. The ability to test out different plating styles, experimenting different techniques to build flavor all throughout a dish, even the simple preparation of herbs. Trust isn’t just a place of hospitality that happens to luckily have some good food, it’s a home for all of us providing an experience unmatched in this city

Trust- firm belief in the reality, truth, or ability of someone or something. Jeff and I are celebrating 29 years together and is there a better place than a restaurant named “trust”? We had a 7 course menu highlighted by that tea course of dried collard greens, pot likker consommé and hot sauce bouillon cube. Chef Trimell Hawkins introduced each course with care and made our night! He can trust we will be singing the praises of his chef’s table experience to all who will listen!
