💜 Let’s turn bystanders into upstanders. We were honored to attend the 15th Annual Shared Voices: Youth and Community Participatory Approach to Preventing Violence and Promoting Wellness seminar, and proud that Trusted Gives sponsored this meaningful event. 📊 20–30% of students are bullied. 70–80% are bystanders or witnesses. That second number is our biggest opportunity. Keynote speaker Dr. Leff shared his community-based research on preventing aggressive bullying, whether verbal, physical, or relational. It often comes from popular, influential students, which is exactly why culture matters so much. His Friend to Friend (F2F) program brings together small groups of 6–8 students who show aggressive behavior and 2–3 prosocial role models. The results: less relational aggression and more integrity in the classroom. 👏 What we can all reinforce: ✨ Ask, “How do you think that made them feel?” ✨ Support the person being targeted ✨ Encourage others to step in too ✨ Go to a trusted adult for help ✨ Don’t laugh along or pass the note And WOW, the seniors from Amherst High School’s BAND Against Bullying! Their message of self-love and confidence in the face of negativity was truly inspiring. 💜 Thank you to the Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention for this important work, and to my partners at Hope Rises’ Kind Kidz Crew and Explore & More. Programs like these need continued investment and coaching to create lasting change. 📚 Great resources: violence.chop.edu #SharedVoices #BullyingPrevention #AlbertiCenter #BANDAgainstBullying #buffalony

One caring adult can make all the difference… @oneill827 and I had the opportunity to attend @bcbswny ’s Super Summit at @senecaonebuffalo and represent @trustedgives 💙 focused on bullying prevention, cyberbullying, mental health, anxiety, social media literacy and helping our children navigate a world that is changing faster than ever. And I walked away with one message that I can’t stop thinking about: It may only take ONE caring adult, showing up consistently, to make all the difference for a child who is struggling. We talked about the things our kids are navigating every day: 📱 Social media & digital citizenship 💙 Anxiety & emotional health 🧠 Emotional intelligence & self-management 🚨 Prevention & crisis response 🏫 School-based mental health resources 🤝 The power of consistent, caring adults One of my biggest takeaways? 5/5 people face challenges. Mental health is a continuum. We don’t have to wait for someone to reach a crisis point before we notice them. Sometimes it’s a teacher noticing the quiet child. A coach asking a different question. A parent putting the phone down and really listening. A friend saying, “How are you really doing?” We also heard recommendations including The Anxious Generation and The Power of Now, along with conversations around Winning EQ, emotional intelligence and social media literacy. Shannon and I were proud to attend representing Trusted Gives, because families in crisis and education are pillars of our mission to support and strengthen families throughout Western New York. If you’re a parent, educator, coach, caregiver or simply someone who cares about kids - save this post, share it with someone who needs it, and most importantly… notice. 💙 Sometimes, being the person who notices is where everything starts. #mentalhealthawarenes #bullyingprevention #cyberbullying #buffalo

$10,000 for some truly AU-SOME kids. 💛 This morning, K-Pop Fest Presenting Sponsor @trustedgives along with @hoperisesnetwork and the Kind Kidz Crew met at @exploremorewny for a pretty special check presentation! Back in April, we came together for K-Pop Fest: an incredible event that was about so much more than music and dancing. Together, we raised funds to help support the continuation of Au-Some Evenings at Explore & More. These special programs give children with autism and sensory processing needs, along with their friends and families, the opportunity to experience the museum in an understanding, supportive environment created with their needs in mind. 🫶 Today, presenting sponsor Trusted Gives presented a $10,000 check to help keep these important experiences going and some of our Kind Kidz were so proud to be part of it. 💛 This is what happens when a community comes together for its kids! Keep an eye on Explore & More for the next Au-Some Evening and upcoming dates. ✨
