🌺 Following the rapid completion of our first two fundraising campaigns, this project is the first in a series of ambitious, multi-year philanthropic initiatives aimed at transforming the historic St. Paul's School campus into a breathtaking garden park inspired by the timeless beauty of Old Westbury Gardens. 🌼 Physical progress is already underway. The Village of Garden City has utilized $30,000 of our $125,000 inaugural gift to fund a newly installed water main at the historic site for a future irrigation system. None of this would be possible without our donors! Your generosity is what makes our mission possible. Together, we will preserve St. Paul's! #preservingthepast #shapingthefuture #gardencity #stpauls #preservation

Another sunny Saturday; another volunteer day at St. Paul's! Back at the building was @oldworldqualitycorp. As workers continued masonry work and carpentry, @trusteemuldoon_gc took several of the Village Trustees on an "Update Tour" around the outside of the building. When we thank our donors, we sincerely include those companies within the industry who have stepped up with 'in-kind' donations! Each donation..... whether $50 or an 'in-kind' donation valued in the thousands of dollars..... is critical to the preservation of St. Paul's and is gratefully accepted! Stay tuned to our website and social media pages for more exciting updates! Together, we honor the past and shape the future... by saving St. Paul's!

Today, we honor our workers. It's a day we set aside to thank those who toil and labor and, as a result, built our country into one known for grit and determination... a country where anyone can have a dream and, through hard work, achieve it. But let's kick in back to 1879 and 1892, the years when St. Paul's and the Cathedral School of St. Mary's (CSSM), respectively, began construction. As part of the religious and educational legacy funded via the Stewart estate for the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, these buildings were erected during a tumultuous time in the labor movement. Long and unrestricted hours, little age verification, OSHA (who was THAT?) and hard hats? And the list could go on and on! We look at this architecture and know it can't be duplicated, but we also know it came at a tremendous cost, sometimes commissioned by people who didn't care how their demands were met. We stand back and admire that which came with a heavy price. The very fact that we take our 14 year olds for working papers today is due to the fights fought by laborers a hundred years prior, because small children could fit into tiny spaces and dig tunnels considerably quicker than adults could! Today, we honor our laborers. We thank our workers for all they do. But, the SPLS also sees this day through an historical lens. We not only honor their completed work, which stands before us (thankfully!) still today, but we also honor their struggles to improve conditions, limit the workday and work week, their insistence that young children not be viewed as adults, that black, Native American and immigrant workers be treated and protected as white workers, which eventually led to women fighting the fight again, and for so many labor laws we take for granted today. Your accomplishments are not only measured in the beauty that stands before us in our unique building, for sure! The progress made in late 19th century is critical as to why the rest of us can celebrate Labor Day! We all stand (safer) on the shoulders of giants!

We had a fantastic time last night at the St. Paul's Alumni Association Reunion. Thank you to the organizers for their kind invitation. Trustee Muldoon, representing the Village of Garden City, gave an update on the progress thus far and the plans the village has... including the acceptance of the $125,000 donation from the St. Paul's Landmark Society and the in-kind donations from Sivelli, Titan, Old World Quality Corp and now, Westminster Landscape Design!! John Reilly, Chairman of the new SPLS, spoke to the mission of the group, stressing the need for a new approach to saving St. Paul's: tackling the task by completing small, manageable projects. We look forward to a long and meaningful collaboration as we save St. Paul's..... together!

🚧 The Forecourt is looking sharp! ✨ The cement pours are complete and pavers are officially going down - you can really start to see our new, more accessible entrance coming to life. Behind the scenes, rough-in work for irrigation and outdoor lighting is also done, setting the stage for greenery and evening glow in the weeks ahead. And how about that beautiful color contrast with our Belville Brownstone 🤌🏽🤌🏻🤌🏾 Save the date 📅 Join us at 10:00am on Sunday, September 13 for a special Blessing of the Forecourt — a one-Mass day and reception with Bishop Provenzano as we keep Holy Cross Day and he celebrates his last Mass at the Cathedral as Bishop Diocesan. A fitting close to a weekend of remembrance for the 25th anniversary of 9/11. A new gateway to this nursery of saints and a meaningful moment to bless it together. 🙏 #CathedralOfTheIncarnation #ForecourtProject #HolyCrossDay #EpiscopalChurch #LongIsland
