Our history is more than just one building. This Village is one of the first planned communities in the country!

And yes, some of our infrastructure is also part of the original infrastructure built by our founders, the Stewarts! But new or old, our Village infrastructure is no different than your home: it must be regularly maintained, and if it's not, all of a sudden, a lot of critical jobs may be needed all at the same time!

As you saw in my last video, and as you've heard at many POA and BoT meetings, our Water Works building is one of the most valuable buildings in our workforce. While we can't share every thing that goes on in this building, we have shared in the past that vital water testing takes place here, and it is part storage facility (for parts so large, they aren't able to be stored elsewhere, as you've seen now!) as well as housing electrical controls and being part of the more than seven miles of water mains!

While this facility no longer houses our water engineers, it does remain on the National Register of Historic Places (1978) and we now protect it and modernize it, much like the Edgemere Firehouse.

Please stay tuned to our new "Water Wednesdays" series. Send us questions you may like addressed. If it's something we can answer, we will! What I can tell you is this: Water Superintendent Stan Carey is a Village asset who should be protected at all costs!! 😂 The standing-room-only EAB meeting (last week) at which he was the keynote speaker proved he knows EVERYTHING there is to know about our water (which is top notch, by the way, due to the efforts of his department! 💦

Stay tuned for more! Visit our official Village Website, the OFFICIAL socials and download the MyGardenCity app. It's free and FABULOUS!! 💻 taken in Inc. Village of Garden City, NY by @trusteemuldoon_gc

🛠️ Another infrastructure update!

Building by building, we are taking inventory of our infrastructure and prioritizing wants and needs. Like your own home, regular upkeep is needed to keep these buildings safe, functional and of use to the residents.

We work collaboratively with the amazing members of DPW and the Building Department to assess each and every Village building, devise a plan to move forward and implement 'next steps' to benefit us all. Take a listen..... taken in Inc. Village of Garden City, NY by @trusteemuldoon_gc

‼️ VILLAGE HALL UPDATE ‼️

Please excuse construction work, starting tomorrow, 10/14. Village Hall will remain open during normal business hours.

We have to thank John Boronni and the fantastic DPW team. His team has been tirelessly working with residents to incorporate their feedback into the new plans.

I took some time yesterday afternoon to head over to the Mott Section and thought I'd update you.... take a listen.

To the LARGE number of residents who attended the traffic meeting, thank you. It was a very productive meeting. Your feedback is invaluable. We may not agree on everything. We may agree, but not be able to implement everything, but we can assure you, you'll receive honest feedback from us.

While throwing a post on social media may be easier than attending the official GC Meetings (in person or via Zoom) I can promise anyone looking for actual solutions, it is not constructive

Please stay tuned for the 'next steps' discussed. And as always, stay safe on our roads. taken in Inc. Village of Garden City, NY by @trusteemuldoon_gc

Althea Robinson is so many things to our community: former Executive Director of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce for 39 years; a Board Member of the Garden City Foundation; a longtime Rotarian and 2023 Rotarian of the Year; a member of the Nassau Council of Chambers; a dedicated member of the Garden City Historical Society; and Garden City High School Business Department faculty.

She was one of the Eastern Property Owners’ Association’s most active members throughout the 1980s and 1990s—and she still regularly attends today. She was named the 2005 Chamber Business Person of the Year and now brings her experience and insight to her work as an independent consultant.

But most of all, Althea is a gift to us all.

Happy 95th birthday, Althea! How lucky we are to know you. You are one of a kind—classy, strong, and unwavering. You will never back down from something you know is wrong, yet you never get in the gutter to fight. And you would give the shirt off your back for any one of us.

Thank you for all you have done—and continue to do—for the Village of Garden City. We celebrate you today and always! taken in Inc. Village of Garden City, NY by @trusteemuldoon_gc

Good afternoon, GC! Delivering a little update on Cluett Hall before the Board Meeting tonight..... please attend OR Zoom in.

We've just had some VERY informative meetings as of late...

☑️ the first Joint POA Meeting featured our Police Commissioner, who spoke about the cameras around town, traffic and crime prevention.

☑️ the EAB meeting last night featured Water Superintendent Stan Carey, who discussed lead pipes and water conservation.

☑️ we've had zoning and traffic meetings to discuss two departments that have been concerns to residents in various sections of the Village, reporting back through their respective POAs.

It's great to see more residents attending these meetings and getting information directly from the Village. We encourage everyone to be a part of the process by showing up and being knowledgeable!

Stay tuned for more information!! taken in Inc. Village of Garden City, NY by @trusteemuldoon_gc

A new collaborative project is underway in the western section of the Village!

Together with our Village Administrator, Parks Department, DWP, Building Department, and PSE&G, we are restoring the nearly three-quarter-mile area affected by April’s transformer fire.

New plantings will beautify the neighborhood and create a welcome buffer between residents’ homes and the LIRR fencing. 🌿 Take a listen! taken in Inc. Village of Garden City, NY by @trusteemuldoon_gc

🚒 Edgemere Firehouse Update🔥

Progress continues! New foundation is in and we are one step closer to reopening this critical installation to the benefit of all our residents, especially those in the West and Estates!

Thank you to our fantastic volunteer fire department for braving the weather on Sunday and treating the entire Village to their annual Open House. The education we get from Fire Prevention Day is so important. Seconds matter in a house fire, and when we have the knowledge we need in an emergency, the better the outcome! taken in Inc. 🌺 Following the rapid completion of our first two fundraising campaigns, this
project is the first in a series of ambitious, multi-year philanthropic
initiatives aimed at transforming the historic St. Paul's School campus into
a breathtaking garden park inspired by the timeless beauty of Old Westbury
Gardens.

🌼 Physical progress is already underway. The Village of Garden City has utilized $30,000 of our $125,000 inaugural gift to fund a newly installed water main at the historic site for a future irrigation system.

None of this would be possible without our donors! Your generosity is what makes our mission possible. Together, we will preserve St. Paul's!
