Emhlabeni wonke, soze abikho 😍🙌🏾

I recently shared with @tshegotune that I’d found my “artistic WHY”- the reason I create. And to put it quite simply: I create because that’s the closest I can get to experiencing the God in me and closest I could get to making love to myself. The last part is quite the story for another day🤭

Jamming with @skaworld.official goes down in my books as soul food✨🧘🏾

An unhurried evening at home

This year, NaliBali Foundation is bringing our community together in a different way.

In collaboration with Benda Pema Na Divine: Into Encane Yomndeni - an intimate gathering centred around food, conversation and the beauty of sharing a table.

Limited to just ten guests, this is an invitation to slow down, connect and experience the care that goes into bringing people together, while raising funds for the NaliBali Foundation.

Rooted in Congolese food culture, matriarchal attention to detail and communal harmony, this is more than a meal. It is a space for holding, care and connection.

An evening to breathe.

(en) very special days shared with the Brazilian delegation at @durbaninternationalfilmfest

a mission to bring Brazil and South Africa closer together and explore paths for co-production, but above all, an opportunity to cross new territories, discover other cinemas and, most importantly, the stories and people that shape them

so happy to have experienced all of this with such a special group, curious and open to connection

a huge thank you to @miradamundi.sp , @associacaoapan and @spcine_ for supporting film education

and another huge thank you to @romeoumu , @creativeafrilab , @tomoadq and @arnaudrwasangabo for their daily care and commitment to bringing our cinemas closer together

It’s a great honour and a pleasure to have been selected to be part of the DIFF Film Festival Residency 2026 🙌🏼✨

As much as Kgorong Film Festival: Dance Edition could not happen in the previous year because of lack of funding.

This residency has opened our minds to thinking beyond the money. Beyond the funds. We have each other 🤞🏼🥹

@durbaninternationalfilmfest @fibbykioria @metric_anomaly @mucii_pictures

This is important work you’re doing. May this residency continue to inspire and ignite that burning fire we have to platform African film and the journey of the arts in our continent.

Of course I spent an hour overthinking my first Substack article post because why are my eyes not cooperating with the body, gave myself an anxiety attack and got scared to be seen being too honest.

But anyway, we’re here and I need to go rejoin some of the women I adore for some live Jazz music.

I once told a friend not to be an artist who dies with their art: on the nose, I know (this is a double entendres for those who know by the way, cathedrals for those with eyes to see them I tell you.)

I love writing and it’s time to empty da clip.

“Taking my mother’s hips dancing” is my first offering to you. I haven’t been to church in a minutes but I hope to make this a weekly Sunday offering to myself and to you as part of my own devotional practice.
As such, like many humans and their humane offerings, this article arrived a little late, genuine, full of my graces and my falls, my humanity and some of my ndabas.

I’ll see you between the lines🙂‍↕️🤭🤍

Tshego had a week from hell and the motto that night was “no more talking, just dancing.” And when I tell you we proceeded to shake ass for hours?
Dreams even came true at the end of that night🤭

World cup watch party: see I don’t always go out with intentions to shake major ass but @thuly_thulz was doing the absolute most on the decks at that watch party I HAD TO DANCE😭😭😭

You had to be there.

Shalom le balifi, there are no words.

Thank you Mamelodi, thank you for healing🤍🥺

In my friend’s office fighting for my life to finish this article.

I remember the first time hearing DJ Tira and Big Nuz’s music from 13:30-14:00 from the transport parked against the grade 9 class wall.

For the last 30 minute of class I’d just vibe the rest of the school day out.
Years later I get to see them live?!!! And dance with them?!?! Bruh🥹🥹🥹

While waiting for our show at the theatre to start I told her I wanna start writing again. The only thing she said after this was “the next time I hear about this, I want it to be link to the article.”

I love you ma’am, thank you for holding me to the standard of my essence.

A poet.
