💛I’ve been thinking a lot about love recently. In many ways that is what grief is, not knowing where to put all the love you used to be able to give your loved one. And not quite knowing how to move through the raw intensity of their loss, without the reassurance of their unconditional love giving you comfort.

July 15th was a year since my boy died. The lead up to the anniversary was tough, the last year without him gently plodding along beside me has been tough. I have walked our sunrise or sunrise walks every day since he has been gone. Initially because I did not know what else to do with that time each day, then because it was a reassuring time to think about him, remembering the love we did get to share. I felt the memory of him beside me with every step, seeing in my mind’s eye his floof blowing in the wind, his nose to the ground joyously sniffing away!

This week, 15th September 2023 should have been his 5th Gotcha Day. Instead it will be my second without him, but it will be my first with his Legacy of Love @sunshinebear_the_samui_soi_dog ➡️

❤️‍🩹At some point this year on those sunrise and sunset walks without him, the sadness of his paws no longer plodding along beside me became a hope for another set of paws walking in the legacy of his love. This week Num, soon to be called Sunshine, a street dog from Koh Samui, Thailand, rescued by the amazing @samui_street_dogs + @niall.harbison will be flying to the UK to join me on those sunrise and sunset walks. I hope to share with Sunshine the love I was lucky enough to experience with my floofing wonderful Teddy Bear, and I look forward to us walking together in the paw prints of his legacy of rescued love💛🐾🧡
