Ever wanted to make corporations more sustainable?

Meet Kaja Pergar; Principal at Oliver Wyman, Climate & Sustainability; based in New York, NY; 30 years-old

Kaja advises big financial institutions and corporates on how they should change the way they operate to minimize their negative impact on climate. This includes climate scenario analysis, net zero target setting, transition planning and implementation. Kaja also works with regulators all around the world to help them identify relevant policies and frameworks that will help drive change across the real economy, for example mandating climate disclosure.

When asked why she leads sustainability impact work, Kaja said, “I come from one of the greenest countries in the world (Slovenia) so I grew up with a real appreciation for nature. Once I started to notice the human-driven negative impacts on our beautiful nature (for example, I’ve been diving the same coral reefs for 20 years and they look very different these days), I’ve wanted to do something about it. It quickly became clear to me that the big organizations of the world are some of the key culprits and if I can help them change their ways, things will improve for the better.”

After returning from the expedition, she shared that, “First and foremost, I was inspired by all the many different ways people have been helping tackle climate change. Globally and locally. Through art, education, activism, scientific research, leadership, and more. Everything counts and can make a positive difference!”

People make our movement for a livable planet possible. Across borders, cultures, and languages, the movement for climate justice continues to grow. The 2041 ClimateForce expedition to Antarctica is just one example of people joining together to fight for the people and places we call home, by advocating to protect the polar regions.

Antarctica has no native human population, but there are still tons of people actively fighting for it! Over the next couple weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of the incredible people who joined Zero Hour executive director Zanagee Artis (@nageeartis) on the expedition of a lifetime. These people are working in different places of the world and in different sectors to advance the global fight for sustainability and climate justice. We hope they’ll inspire you to take action in your own life!

Happy Anniversary to us! Exactly a year since we reached the top of the world while battling COVID-19, while encountering two cyclones, while creating awareness about Sustainable Development through renewable energy!

On 23 May 2021, at 6:20 a.m., I took the flag of @sangharsh.co Mission and @projectchirag to the third pole - the top of the world, and I’m so happy to share that our friend @sanskritixm took us all the way to Antarctica - the coldest, driest, windiest, and highest continent on Earth! A true continent of superlatives 😏

She joined 150+ people from 35+ countries on 2041 Foundation‘s ‘Leadership on the Edge’ program led by Sir Robert Swan - a climate activist who's the first person to have walked to both the poles. Antarctica is currently reserved for science and peace by the Antarctic Treaty (Madrid Protocol 1991) which will potentially be re-negotiated in 2041. @robertcswan wants to inspire a new generation of leaders to advocate for the continued preservation of #Antarctica as all human-made change in our polar regions has a devastating impact on the rest of our planet.

I plan to take this mission to the North Pole next summer!

We commenced the first plant out today. It was very exciting to finally welcome trees into the ground after so many months of preparation, nursery management and general hard yakka. Thank you to the tireless support of so many to make this dream to restore an ancient ecosystem a reality. The short term goal is to plant 10,000+ natives over 35 rows before the end of the month. Connecting lowland rainforest with a riparian zone which feeds the Daintree river and Great Barrier Reef.
