Just as there is so many great things about Tucson, there are also many haunting things.
Endless construction on Grant rd, decimation of our desert & saguaros, all the pokey cacti, terrible landscaping choices, people killing rattlesnakes, TEP electric bills & more.

🌵 What are some haunting things in Tucson for you??

Ballots are out and it's time to vote NO on Prop 421! From the Daily Star: DSA-endorsed Ward 6 Councilmember Miranda Schubert @tucsonschubert says she is voting NO on the TEP franchise agreement. "She said the 25-year time frame is unnecessarily long, and the $2 million per year TEP will put toward climate resiliency is insufficient.

Meanwhile, TEP is spending $1.47 million in company profits (that's money they made from our high rates!) to convince Tucson to take their bad deal. They even paid $14k for "yes" arguments in the election info pamphlet. Say NO to TEP and NO to Prop 421!

Today a group of citizens dropped a banner over the Tucson Congress Street bridge during rush hour to encourage people to vote no on Prop 421 which would extend the TEP franchise agreement for another 25 years.

To date, news sources report that TEP, a Canadian privately owned investor utility, has spent 1.5 MILLION dollars on ads and $14,000 on pamphlets to convince voters that Prop 421 is good for Tucson.

TEP lost my respect back in December 2025 when 6-8 lawyers for TEP showed up at the Arizona Corporation Commission seeking approval of an Energy Supply Agreement (ESA) between Tucson Electric Power Company (TEP) and Humphrey’s Peak Power LLC (ie, Beale Infrastructure for Project Blue) for the planned data center campus that is now being built in Pima County. That is when I knew that TEP and the Arizona Corporation Commission (in its current composition) work for profit and investors, not the people.

I respect the will of the working class with their cans of paint and canvas over a private corporation's interest and will be voting no on Prop 421. I am in favor of the City exploring and supporting a public power option.

Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday! The Pima County Board of Supervisors and the Tucson Mayor and City Council are both meeting at 5:30pm. The county will be considering a temporary moratorium on data centers while they come up with regulations, and the city will be reviewing the large water user ordinance. We’ll have specifics about what to ask for as far as that goes. Please come out and support the moratorium in the county and ask the city to make the large water user ordinance stronger! Also support our friends at @tucsonpublicpower in their call for a no on Prop 421, the TEP franchise agreement.
