Writing my first book was a lifelong dream. But instead of elation, I felt dread and anxiety. The pressure, the comparisons, the relentless sense of “I’m not doing enough.” It’s real. And it’s painful.⁣
⁣
I approached the release date with the confidence of a fool. Everything I thought I knew couldn’t prepare me for what I didn’t: That knowing how things work doesn’t protect you from the storm of big feelings that come with sharing vulnerable work with the world.⁣
⁣
But here’s what I keep coming back to: Healing happens in connection. Writing is both a wound and a salve. And true healing? It’s finding the people who see us, who remind us we’re not alone. Who help us reclaim our joy, turn pain into power, and remember that this journey is more than worth it—it’s how we heal ourselves and, ultimately, each other.⁣

I never get tired of hearing other women’s stories!

Loved hearing so many talented storytellers last night at the @tuenight 10th anniversary birthday show and the having the chance to eat cupcakes with former ACA guest and friend @laurafriedmanwilliams.

Ageism is the last socially acceptable form of discrimination.

Even the most seemingly progressive of minds drop unconscious bias towards those in midlife and beyond. The toll weighs most heavily on maturing women and those first entering the workforce in their 20s.

Today is #ageismawarenessday. Calling out ageist behaviors, comments, and attitudes is the first step. The second is educating those on how destructive this is to society and our future selves.

It happens on the streets. On social media. In class. At work. At the doctor’s office. In your favorite movies and shows. Even in your home. It can be sneaky and covert. It is so heavily ingrained into our society, but make no mistake. It is a form of discrimination and federal laws protect employees who are 40+ years old based on their age. (ADEA Act).

Thank you @tuenight for spotlighting my midlife attitude and @prettyripe! I believe that we as women start to ripen after 40 to become more confident and certain and kind to ourselves. I also think people float this idea that we become “invisible”because this is when we become our most powerful!
