POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’ll be honest: in the memoir world, I’m nobody you’ve heard of. No big name. No big following. But I’ve learned that doesn’t make a story any less worth telling.

That’s why I’m so deeply grateful to the people who read an early, not-yet-final version of My Beauty from Ashes, and then chose to put their names behind it. Swipe to read their words.

Bob Goff (@bobgoff),New York Times bestselling author and a true mentor to me and so many others. Nearly six years ago, he was the very first person I ever shared my writing with. It was one rough first chapter, and in it I had written down things I’d barely said out loud to anyone. His encouragement then, and what I learned at one of his writers’ workshops along the way, shaped this book into what it is today. Having him read the finished manuscript and endorse it is a full-circle moment I will never forget.

Marlee Liss (@marleeliss), Danielle Tudor (@danielletudor62), and Darlene Lekowski (@darlenelekowski), fellow survivors, advocates, and authors. Each carries her own story, and each is turning trauma and healing into real change for the generations coming after us. I’m humbled to stand alongside them in this fight.

Michelle Linn (@tulsamichellelinn), who spent 30 years in TV news, the last 15 right here in Tulsa, lifting up the stories of women in our community through On Her Mind. She has spent her career giving women’s voices a platform, and her words about my story mean more than I can say.

To each of you: thank you for reading, for believing, and for lending your names to this story.

My Beauty from Ashes releases this week (eeeek!) on October 15th from Soul Speak Press (@soulspeakpress), in paperback and ebook.
