Happy (belated) Fire Emblem Day!!

I absolutely LOVE FE. Though I was late to discover it till Awakening, it quickly became a favorite with so many Incredible characters. I still have future plans for Nowi and maybe revamping others. 🤔

~ 2026 MatsuriCon Craftsmanship Competition! (Sappy post number one!)

I'm splitting this into two posts because I have so much I wanna say & so many people to thank! It's been such a journey, & I'm so grateful & excited to have gone on it with y'all! Huge thank you to @matsuricon & @butdragonsthocosplay

When I started going to cons & getting into cosplay, I never imagined I would one day compete, let alone place in a competition! I was in awe of people who hand-crafted their cosplays, (still am!!) but never thought could be me. Then in February 2025, I watched '98 Trigun for the first time, & 3 episodes in, went, "I'm gonna make Vash, from scratch, & I'm gonna do it by ColossalCon Prime." Up until that point, I'd never sewn a piece of clothing in my life. I'd sewed a few book sleeves & could hand stitch buttons back on my clothes. It was insane, & I got my bolt of cloth the week Joann announced they were closing 😭 EVEN THEN, competing was no where on my mind, until I finished the cosplay, got to ColossalCon, & was chatting about the craftsmanship process with @strippervash. He told me I should enter it in the Craftsmanship contest, even with all my mistakes & unfinished seams.

Honestly, I was floored. And a little nervous. Me? Compete?! But he insisted. And at Matsuri that year, so many others ALSO told me to compete. I didn't think I was even close to being good enough. But Zach & y'all had more confidence in me than I did, LOL!

It wasn't until Oct. that I decided to make purple Vash, & I finished two days before Prime, had a whirlwind of a first contest, & came away with excellent feedback from the judges. I didn't enter to win, but for the experience, to meet other cosplayers, & get feedback on what I could improve. I threw myself into the edits, including re-doing the wing, & making my pants from scratch! (To be continued)

I'M SORRY THIS IS SO LONG but the journey of how I got here has been filled with so many people, I wanted to spill it all out there! There's gonna be so many tags in the second post 😂

IT'S SO SURREAL Y'ALL!

The absolute last thing that I ever expected from this experience was to get any kind of recognition beyond just getting up on stage (which was a challenge by itself). And now that Ive slept the best sleep Ive had all week, I still am in disbelief.

The last thing I have to do is go to the feedback panel this morning, so it's going to be interesting to hear how all the flaws in that dress were perceived by other people (because let me tell you, I know all of them and there are MANY). But the point of this was to prove to myself that I could do this. I could get in front of people and be perceived to a level that I usually avoid - and I had FUN!

THANK YOU SO MUCH @tuna_snug ! I've been paranoid that I smudged red lipstick on your beautifully white cosplay ever since. And thank you @rennfaire for capturing this moment for me. I am so grateful. The fact that y'all put up with me is incredible because I am certain I have been insufferable.

And every single person who actually knew who I was??? I adore you, you have no idea.

~ ColossalCon Day 3 & 4!

I completely forgot to mention in my previous post that on Friday morning I had a lovely photoshoot with @hc_cosplay_photography ! Friday night was Autograph night, & I was able to have a lovely chat with @clkstar & get her to sign my Trigun manga! (She voiced Young Amelia in Badlands Rumble!)

💜 Saturday was a whirlwind! I made it to the chaotic and super fun Trigun meetup hosted by @ivysenpai and their friend whose handle escapes me, went hall wandering, only to run into friends & yap for a LONG time about Trigun & cosplay creation & contests & real life, (Tim and Zach, you guys are awesome! ❤🤞🍩) I then rushed off to host the Trigun panel, & I WISH I had gotten a picture! To everyone who attended, you were amazing, thank you for nerding out about Trigun with me! (And HUGE thanks to @wretchedtheo for the amazing slides!) After that it was time for a late lunch, and then my first cosplay contest! I plan on making a whole post about that, but wow, it was such an incredible experience, I met so many talented & kind people, & I would definitely do it again! Congrats to all the winners!

💜 Sunday was a wild day of packing the car, selling in the flea market, leaving con, & having my engine light turn on as I was leaving. I had to learn how to change a spark plug in the parking lot, & I'm very proud of the fact LOL! It was a long drive home, but I made it in the end! (One of these days, Ohio & the corn fields will swallow me, I swear- 🥴) I also had the opportunity to bring a sword for Samurai Dan to examine & IT'S NOT FAKE! I'M SO HAPPY! He was incredibly kind, cleaned it for me??? gave me some history about it, & steps in how to care for it! 🎊

This con had such a crazy schedule, & I had a blast, even if I wish I had been able to spend a little more time with some of my friends. The contest definitely threw my schedule "off", but now I know what to expect and can plan accordingly! Here's to another year of ColossalCon shenanigans, and I can't wait for the next! 🤩💖

It’s hard to put into words the feeling you have when you meet somebody and think “yeah, I’d like to spend the rest of my life with them”, and have that come to fruition and continue to go for 6 years and counting. Happy anniversary to @tuna_snug, my best friend in the entire world, the one who knows me more than I do and inspires me in every aspect of my life. 🥹💖🎉🎉💖💖💖 Everyday is an adventure with you, even if we’re parallel crafting in the sewing room, going to conventions or simply falling asleep giggling watching stupid videos and there’s never a dull moment. Honorary con post!! Sorta chose to go last min and had a blast!!

Handled for some friends who are crazy good and talented, met some friends I’ve only known from interactions online, made some new friends, got tons of little trinkets, learned tons about competing and tricks for making cosplays, brought a cool giant prop, and so much more! (Watched Gandalf order a drink from starbucks)

Big sappy post incoming 😭

I’ve gone to so many conventions over the last 16 years that sometimes they bleed together but Colossal 2026 was truly one of the best ones in recent memory. The last 6 years of cosplay has been a slow going hard reset since 2020 for many reasons, partly the pandemic and partly my transitioning journey, and finally getting to a place where I feel comfortable with myself and my abilities to keep moving forward at a good pace 💪

Deciding to compete with Olruggio was a bit of a spur of the moment, and maybe some pressure from @visualsongstress, but it was well worth it! I had already gotten him completed but I wanted to make updates to make him competition worthy and try my hand at competing! I haven’t competed in 10 years, and it was nerve wracking for sure.

As always many thanks to my darling @tuna_snug (who got BEST OVERALL CRAFTSMAN!!! 💖💖) for always standing in my corner and rooting me on, giving advice when needed and being simply amazing. You inspire me to always keep at it and I love you so much 😭💖

Many thanks to all the lovely judges at the competition @malinda_chan @turtlesmithycos @owleeriecosplay @paigesicle_art @dr_andyoffice and especially @sournine for the Judge’s Award! I am so honored to be selected out of all the wonderful contestants this year 🥹🥹 Yall made my first year back so memorable.

Also getting to meet @thejoshuawatersva was such a lovely treat!!! I hope you had a lovely time!! 💖💖💖

Happy 5 Years to my very favorite person in the world, I wake up everyday so lucky to have you in my life. Living with you doesn’t feel like hard work, it comes easy and I always look forward to what the next year, month, and even day will bring. I love playing exy with you on hot days and curling up at the kotatsu when it’s cold, watching reality tv and playing games together. Organizing our thousands of pokemon cards, hanging out with our cats and making and wearing cosplay together. I even love the fact that we completely forgot the actual day of our anniversary cause we’re busy living our lives together and we can make any day feel like our anniversary. 💖 Thank you for loving me, the best and the worst parts of me, here’s to another 5 years
