I’m at such a great loss for the words to say how thankful I am in so many ways 😭 Today felt like a visit to a different planet in all the right ways and I find my heart feeling full in a special way I can’t say I’ve ever really experienced and if WAY too many people saw me crying on that stage, no you didn’t!!!!
14 years ago I took a try at this very spot to compete and share my love for this hobby with a space that left me feeling very distraught and discouraged and today I came back to try again in the hopes that the experience could change and feel positive in the way I really desperately dreamed it could. I can say with a lot of confidence that I did find that piece I always felt had been missing and I feel crazy emotional that my love for this craft and this character specifically carried through to different eyes 🥹💕
Thank you to all the Colossalcon cosplay staff and green room comrades for providing such an uplifting and positive space to be a part of today, you guys are all rockstars and people anyone would be lucky to call friends!!!

I promised a review of this pattern when I got the time to finish & it’s finally here!! I want to give a VERY special shoutout to @filibertpatterns for tackling this one for the community! Having done this on my own before now, I can promise everyone that this collar is NO easy task!! Please take the challenge rating seriously if you plan to give this a go!
Overall, I’m very happy with this pattern! I’m giving it a solid 4/5🌟 and I’ll go over a quick review for why I chose to withhold a full 5⭐️ rating:
-Full disclosure: I’m a Very Solid US size 14, I’m 5’10, and VERY curvy! I’ve been sewing a long time for myself and having a 14in difference between my waist and hips is a heavy burden on my own patterning 😅 but we gotta work with what we got! That being said, if you’re like me & on the plus-sized sides of things, a single back seam is pretty impossible for anything that may be form-fitting. This pattern does offer only the single back seam and I definitely understand why! I would love to have gone for the completely smooth torso like it can offer, but I absolutely need those side seams to make up for my grading to really cinch it in
-The collar is beautifully tailored and instructions are amazing! I would say for the largest size available, please follow filibert’s instructions & make a mockup first!!! I have a thin neck and even having cut the largest size, it fit just right for me!
- As a personal preference, I never like to use fusible stretch interfacing on any area that isn’t encased. I find that after a few washes it doesn’t tend to stand the test of time. Instead, in the lower torso portion, I simply opted to do a facing in the same fabric instead. A simple zig-zag across the edges & lower waist hold everything together without needing any hemming!
-Personal changes based on my own preference: I forgo the thumb holes, I just like them to sit at my hands instead!
-I took in the wrists a bit, this is a usual issue for my oddly skinny wrists
-After I took these photos I stitched down the edges of the leg flaps so there’s more than just the center stitch to hold them against my thighs!

It’s a very special birthday today!! @colonelsoapscum 🥹💕💕 Real love with this goober has taught me that love really should feel as easy as breathing. It’s been a handful of years now seeing each other every day but every morning still feels as special as the one before it 💕 I don’t think birthdays have felt scary since being with you, they only make me see a scrapbook of a life well lived and full of love 🎂 💕

Wha 10 year anniversary hardly feels like a real sentence!!!! 🥹 This series has brought an infinite pool of love and hope and creative desire back into my life and I truly couldn’t give enough thanks to @mome_kamo for all the love and work they pour into this world 💕
I’ve since remade a great portion of this cosplay from when these photos were taken but they are absolutely some of my favorite I’ve ever received @nancykayphotography is a true witch behind that camera!!! I can’t wait to get back out and wear Qifrey again soon with everyone :3c

I can hardly believe tomorrow is already the day 😭 WHA has been such a bright light that has set my soul ablaze for years now I can hardly believe this spring marked 2 years of cosplaying Qifrey time has FLOWN by!!!! Words cannot express my gratitude to @obliviousham for reaching out so long ago to clock me falling for this series and loml @colonelsoapscum for cosplaying Olruggio with me well before even reading and knowing for certain you would love him to pieces 💕💕💕 if I think about WHA too long I actually start to cry so please if you haven’t given this story a chance please PLEASE do!!!! So few things in life have touched my soul and given me lifelong inspiration the way this has 🥺💕 I can’t wait to take the next part of this journey with you all 🌟

🥹 I have a lot of amazing feelings that I’ll attempt to not be long winded about!!! This weekend marked one year since I came back after 13 years of putting cosplay competitions on major pause, hoping that someday i would feel confident enough in myself and my abilities to try again while also remembering that competing should be for the enjoyment of doing it in the first place 💕 Since last year, I’ve not only come back feeling that confidence in every build I’ve brought along, but I’ve won 5 titles with 3 being best in show 🥹 Cosplay has always been the biggest and most rewarding aspect of the last 17 years of my life (17 feels CRAZY to type out) but feeling rewarded in this way only drives me to keep loving this hobby and this community and hoping that the positivity and love I’ve found in the competition scene is also found in everyone who might wish to try for their first time too 💕
HUGE thank you to the #animarathon masq crew and judges, @arcadian.cosplay @visualsongstress @magpieofmagic @tothestarsandbackcosplay @kydkindred y’all are such an amazing group of people who do everything to make every contestant feel supported and cared for 🥺💕
My heart is full of a lot of love this day, and although it might be a minute longer as I take a small break from competing to do a few passion projects and make time for location shoots most of this year, I’m so very excited for what tomorrow might bring 💕

The last month has been So Much I forgot to post after @isshocon !!! 🥹💕💕💕 it was an honor to be awarded best advanced craftsmanship on what was a very mentally challenging build for myself and also my birthday weekend!! I put this Aerith off for an entire year before feeling ready to come back and tackle through the remainder of the build and I’m so glad that I did! I truly love this design from head to toe, I felt like a princess the entire day finally getting to wear it all! Thank you to the cosplay masquerade crew, you all were so kind and made the experience very enjoyable!! The bouquet was also such a beautiful surprise!! I’ve kept a few dried flowers for keepsake I’ll be putting together for a shadowbox soon 💕 and thank you to all other sponsors also!!! @thefoamory @ndlwrkshop and all others I may have missed! 💕
EXTREME special thank you to @visualsongstress for getting such beautiful photos for me 🥹💕 it’s been a very long time since I’ve had real photos taken and you make me feel so pretty!!

@zipcon.aac was such a delight and treat to finally attend after all these years and winning the craftsmanship best in show really was my cherry on top! I cannot thank the masquerade crew enough for being such a bright, wonderful, and inclusive group of people I am proud to call my friends and acquaintances 💕 @tothestarsandbackcosplay @khemicalcosplay @visualsongstress @nekoyasha09 (& all others I may have forgotten here!!!) y’all deserve so much more support!!! The cosplay community is the backbone of any and every convention I’ve touched since 2009 and there is always more room for this community to be backed up and supported in every way and at every con 💕 Now more than ever we need spaces to practice and uplift the desire to create and inspire those around us 👏💕

As always, thank you @alexanderward777 for sharing your boy with the world!! Although his might be gone, my heart has grown 10x its size since getting to know him 🥹💕
