🎶 NEUKÖLLN CITY SOUNDS IS BACK! Join us on Tuesday, 3 November for our final 2026 evening of live music and community this time at @refugioberlin ! First up we are so happy to present the legendary JAQEE NAKIRI & BAND Born in Uganda and based in Berlin, @jaqeenakiriofficial is a powerhouse singer, songwriter, multidisciplinary artist and mother of two whose music moves freely between reggae, soul, jazz, hip-hop and African rhythms. With two Swedish Grammy nominations and performances on international stages, her artistry is rooted in movement, cultural exchange and a refusal to be confined to any single genre. Beyond the stage, Jaqee is also a passionate mentor, supporting young people in finding their voices through songwriting and creative expression. How djaying and real-time stem separation can become the groundwork for a complex production. „BEI MIR“ is built around a record from 1972 – now look what it became. 🧩🎚️🎛️💟beimir.robosonic.cc 💤💤💤 With love and respect for Rio Reiser (1950–1996), Cord and emmo built a hybrid track that honours the original and makes room for a new voice – emotive, energetic, intergenerational. It moved through instrument recordings, live performances and rehearsals, with involvement from the education department of the Berliner Philharmoniker, and finally received the blessing of the original artists and rights holders. Ben Lukas Boysen contributed parts of his Clarion composition on Erased Tapes, labelmates Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen contributed pieces from their Kiasmos universe. Let’s put cake, candles and flowers on the table to honor her birthday tomorrow! 🎂🍽️💐👀 I can‘t be there for celebrations, due to the release of „BEI MIR“ and a show at @detect_classic_festival . Rike took most pictures of emmo (@emmo33033) that you‘ll see here around the record. Since we’ve met at a shady Kreuzberg parking garage in the early days of „Kinder vom Kotti“ - thanks to Normen & @turningtablesgermany - she has shot a ton of meaningful documentary photos, record artworks, professional press pics – making memories and impact for me and the whole extended family. As often I have been looking for inspiration in my parents’ vinyl record collection, but this is actually the very first LP that I’ve borrowed about 25 years ago. Around emmo’s mutual love for Rio Reiser (*1950-1996), I have reinvented, arranged, and built an entirely different hybrid production: one that honors the original in subtle details, adds a new harmonic spin, a total different groove. Finally it made space for a new voice and presence. It will be there for you on all platforms this Friday. More details and stories to come. C:
